Wait a minute..when did I say that I lost to offside trap and even if I did when did I complain about it? Also I never said that @ should stop worrying about the bugs or did I? I read @reb's news they put that "in" the thing. Only they know if they can pull everything off not you. So you can't just say that it's not a bug and they should worry more about bugs. What tells you they are not? Didn't they manage to work on bugs before? Alos I never said that the offside trap should be erased I said there should be more downs to counter the Ups of offside trap 1) and 2) I don't see how these would be major disadvantage to the offside trap. 3) Exactly what they may be working on and you are saying NO |

@CelloG said: Now, for an example of an ACTUAL bug on the top ten list, let's look at offsides calls. 1) it is NOT offside if your player receives the ball in his own half. This change alone will punish extreme high defensive line. 2) it is NOT offside if the other team passes to you. Again, this change will punish offside trap. 3) passing to obviously offside players (this one is debatable - I've seen crappier teams do this, but it should be less common at highest level) 4) allow GK to run out of his little box to the side and front to get the ball. This will add that "will he make it???!?" tension to games just like real games. None of these is "punishing offside trap," but are just fixing bugs that are obvious in every single game AND will make stupid offside trap setups horrible for those who use them, without punishing those who use it intelligently. See the difference? That's my opinion. These fixes will punish those lazy users who don't bother spending time on tactics. Those who actually do more thinking than just "move your defenders to center-line" won't be affected much. |

To @CelloG who says "All respect to Gunner" Thats looks like a whole lot of disrespect actually. I dont want to get into a whole long drawn out argument so I'm just going to finish off with a few comments. Soli started this thread to explain that the SM offside trap works like real life and I pointed out the points where it differed and he agrees on those changes. Simple, no argument needed - most of the other users who have replied on this thread all agree and I'm quite sure the majority of users do. I try make an effort to get onto General Chat each night so I think I'm pretty in touch with what the general feeling is out there. Every comment about a game played amongst managers I've noticed includes " wow - that offside line was high" or "Did you play high offside?" etc When I talk to my mates about Arsenal's recent matches, we never mention offside much. Funny that, why the discrepancy? One reason - offsides for SM is a GAME CHANGING issue. Simple again - no argument needed. What I'm trying to achieve with the support of most users is to get the changes made to the sim which will make the game about managing your team on the field in all aspects, not just offsides. I'm Done. |

If you require 100% agreement to feel respected then I can't help you there . Let's not distract from the essential point: We have a list of bugs that DESPERATELY need fixing and have been problems for months. The devs of SM have a habit of adding new features and ignoring this list, often adding several new bugs in the process (remember the salsa bug?). "punishing defenders in offside trap" (@rand's update) is not in that list. You can convert that to any interpretation you desire, but it's very clearly not on the top 10 list. I frankly don't care whether it could make the game "better." Every new feature they've introduced has had 4 new bugs, which often has large consequences for users. With limited resources it will just push some of the critical bugs to the bottom of the list yet again, and I am publicly posting here because it needs to be heard that this is no longer acceptable. The best time to change this behavior is after fixing the critical bugs. Anything else is utter disrespect for the paying customers of striker manager, and this is the only respect that is important. Administrators (and moderators) don't deserve respect, they (we) already have power. We owe the users humility, and should expect scathing and loud criticism in return so that we can know where the game needs improvement. As both user and moderator, I will continue to both fight for users and loudly criticize mistakes of the higher-ups as long as I am @. If this is not what the big honchos wanted when they @ed, me, then they can always take it away, but I'm pretty confident it's appreciated because the game is better as a result. </sermon> Amen brothers and sisters! |

Sometimes I think that international-english server (this server) is not taken into account to much by those admins. These ideas they get probably come from the spanish server and they rarely (could say never) try to see what we think here. It has always been like that. I'm not sure why create 3 servers where only one server has their users give their opinions. Maybe I'm wrong or maybe it's different with the @ here but I don't think we(everyone in this server) are being listened too. Really hope it changes when we get more users......will take some time but we should get more users than them one day.....WE ARE THE "INTERNATIONAL" VERSION Edited by patient 02-12-2011 07:58 |

Everyone needs to be open to change. If we aren't, the game will never improve. However, I agree with @Cellog. The best way to facilitate change is to ensure the thing you want to change is as complete as possible. Fix the actual bugs first, then concentrate on continued development. In my line of work (software) you have a team devoted to bug fixing, that's all they do. But they can't do their job if the progressive developers keep adding new features because you end up being snowed under by the list of problems created. Just fix the bugs, then look at offside. And seriously, "punishing defenders for playing offside trap" is retarded. I could imagine Andres Villa-Boas running out on to the field and headbutting John Terry every time he steps up in front of the attack. It's quite funny. Subtle changes are what we need, and a degree of intensity with which to apply them. This way we can achieve a sense of balance. Edited by practicesquad 02-12-2011 09:08 |

I find it quite interesting that the offside trap here, causes as much controversy as it does in "Real Life" |

I have no problem with the offside thing. The sad part is that you do not know if your opponent will play a high defense until the game starts and you can't do anything about it. | 02/12/2011 18:56 |
