I'm speaking of Arsenal's offside, which is only a little bit lower than what most people (Including me) use. There are a few people that take the defensive line higher than the center line (you got one of those teams in your PL) and offsides are still counted in the opponents half field. Also in that picture, the ball isnt the final 1/4 of the field. If by fixing high defensive line you mean: Not counting offsides in a teams half field Making longballs and through balls more common Make the strikers score one on ones 9/10 times Stop the strikers from passing when they are in front of the goal Stop the defenders from hacking, unless they cant catch up with the striker If thats what will be implemented then I would be very happy because infact i also suffer a lot from many of these things, and I would be happy to try to test out new formations that actually work with the sim, given that this formation is pretty much the only way to last over here in the short-term due to the non-existence of fast/high finishing players YET. But if what will happen is placing limitations on positioning defenders then I won't be so happy. |

And yes, I think this change is just as important as any bug out there - to me this is the BIGGEST bug. @CelloG said it at the beginning of the season - the dev work thats gone into the sim is incredible. It would be a great shame if its ruined by this bug. Edited by @GunnerNic 01-12-2011 08:31 |

That doesn't undermine the high defensive line in any way. It's not the right thread to dwell on what tactics to use against other tactics, but if these changes are made...i will have absolutely no problem continuing with the way i play right now. Some people rely on offside trap without good positioning of the rest of the players...those are the ones that will get hit hard. But these changes won't affect those who spent more time then just "move your defenders to the center-line". Edited by solirocket 01-12-2011 08:36 |

I will keep saying it, Offisde trap needs to be like all the other tactics and have Ups and downs. Not as it is when no matter what your opponent do, you have more chances using offside trap+other tactics. I don't care if it's possible to get around it, people who use offside trap have to think as much as others because most of people using it barely think about other tactics since consequences are very minimal. They just put defenders high and it's an advantage EVERYTIME no matter if you win or lose. |

I think the real issue is the lack of risk playing the offside trap. There is no "definite" way to beat it, with a few tweaks here and there you can make it more likely but it wins out majority of the time. I play a reasonably high line but that's only because I see the advantage in it. If that advantage is taken away or diminished, I'll have to rethink, but personally I like thinking about how I'm going to beat people . Even though the offside tactic plays a large part in determining the result of matches, there's plenty more subtle things you can do to get an advantage and it's fun finding them out. Forethought: It would be good to be warned and given examples of how the changes will affect gameplay before they are released, just to give us time to change. It would be a shame to get punished for wanting to win Edited by practicesquad 01-12-2011 09:05 |

It's not fun waking up one day and finding the sim has been changed without knowing what has actually happened. |
