That was really good info, thank you gelin and Aeuen. Right now I am not much dependent on my forwards, instead I am making my XIM's to score more goals. Almost 90% of goals my team's scoring is from out of Penalty box. This seems to work for me against some teams and fail against some. This season, I am working on my defense and they are conceding lesser goals. Though there always a silly goal they concede day in day out |

pgelin said: No wonder you are scoring at will. RM and LM with three forwards... Wasn't intended. I once had RIM/LIMs too, but of the two combinations my LM/RM at the time were better, so I got rid of them. Soon after that I purchased Jagroop and that was the end of any doubt. With the way striker works, you have to have a bit of that "go big or go home" mentality, because the shots are so random and offsides kills a lot of chances. With that in mind I structure to have a team with a lot of offense and defense and virtually no "true" midfielders- my OM plays like a striker, my DFM plays like a CDF, and my LM/RM play like strikers. Whatever happens in the middle of the field doesn't matter very much to the outcome of the game, as long as I can dominate the two ends. It doesn't always work- Lea Town has a weaker overall team but has an excellent CF, and your team usually shuts my team down near your net. The added benefit of not having a lot of midfielders is the cost- I use the extra cash on awful RF's like Joey Haams Another thing to keep in mind is the GK. I mention this for the lower division managers in RFM- check the GK before you buy him. Average and save % do not match up. Here's a look at my GK and a GK I sold last season, with almost the same average: http://en.strikermanager.com/jugador.php?id_jugador=7075963 http://en.strikermanager.com/jugador.php?id_jugador=11062768 |

I'd recommend purchasing one good RF or LF- mid-70's average (130m cost) and trying him out. You will score more consistently. I rarely get shutout, even when someone else uses a pack manager against me: http://en.strikermanager.com/partido.php?id=11451342 |

Aruen is right. Do not expect the referee to be your offense. You have to create it. The early SM forums mentioned to put as many defenders and middle fielders as possible to prevent goals and control the ball. Over rated in my opinion. And great point on the GK averages. I just checked it and I just got schooled! A few questions... Who is taking the goal kicks? Should I spend a skill on that defender on precise passing to increase my ball retention of the goal kick? How high do you guys play your trap? I have had more problems with teams that fall back with 6+ defenders, but then attack the ball just pass the mid-circle line. How do you do this in the tactics? |

But am considering for a decent striker. I hope I will get someone from my junior squad. Just want to do enough to survive 3rd div this season |

Sender said: What effort do you guys use for your games? Edited by Sender 03-06-2013 21:31 Standard effort: Tied- 70% Winning by 2 goals or less- 50% Winning by more than 2 goals- 25% Losing- 85% If I am playing a really weak team, I will adjust effort down (except for losing)- tied goes to 50% and so on. If I am playing a stronger team, losing goes to 70%. My players do not get tired often- I play my second line for cup games and beta for friendlies. As for the striker conversation, I couldn't bear losing Jason Robinson next season so I splurged on a similar striker. That's how much difference a quality striker will make for your team. Except for the GK, I don't think any other position makes as much of a difference, even CDF. |
