Lower Div sides would sell their stars to top div sides for 10 x - not really feasible this idea. I'm a Div 1 team, having moved up from Div 6 and I had 1.2B saved with a further 400M loan available for a possible bid on a junior star CF. Even thats not enough, the first CF has gone for 1.8B already. |

@rebsiot said: I think they should just give me 5 gold star players because I'm cool. Take your best shots, people I've got a 56prog. star player in one of my schools. I know I should sell him to a rich manager for 1 billion, but I offer him to rebsiot instead for only 999million, because rebsiot is cool. |

If this sale is dev's solution to control inflation or drain the money out, then I really would like to say, its not working. As others have pointed, this will take some money of the top 2-5% of players, but really do nothing to control inflation. In-fact the the teams who made unsuccessful bids on these players will now have spare cash to inflate the prices in markets for 90% prog players. If you want to control inflation, read Dee's thesis and as a first step i would recommend, increase the supply of 80%+ players in the markets and schools. More supply = stabilized prices = inflation control. These start auctions are just a whitewash for a Elite club auctions and bragging rights. It fails to solve any economic issue. |

Spade said: increase the supply of 80%+ players in the markets I think this will happen anyway due to the amount of farming now been done by most teams. It may take another 2 seasons, but I think there will be a lot more 80+ appearing. |

I suggest also a reading of supply side economic policy before digging in any deeper into the inflation issues. The problems with SM is not just the need for more players to be "pumped and then dumped". These auctions were a good idea, key word "were" and still are once prices stop fluctuating, but it will take at least another 2 seasons before we see clear data of how current policies have helped curb the environment. After thought* Were heading this way anyways, so why not just put a cap for 2 seasons on the prices allowed for players of certain age and average. One of this games problems is with forecasting and allowing managers to claim big profits from small gains, but thats another topic best left for the economics of striker sticky Edited by cmccourt 24-08-2012 16:29 |

man, you joined 2 months ago.. ofc you can't expect to be able to compete with people who played for 1+ years already?? I'm playing since last april and didn't even think i had any chance at these auctions.. just let them rich spaniards waste their money, stars are overrated anyway | 24/08/2012 18:35 |
