well i agree that we can develop players as we see fit...

but the original point was about the offside traps and very high defense lines being employed by some managers... something should be done about it...
and also about the defenders who hack attackers from behind when they are clean through on goal.. they should get cards

Why should anything be done about very high offside lines, in fact the the first thing Kasul said was "I don't have a gripe about the ploy".

It's a legitimate football tactic employed by a lot of real teams.

Now the cards, I agree with, but not until you give the ability to chase rather than hack down.

what do you mean by ability to chase? i mean the speed of defenders is usually more than attackers so they can easily get back and make a clean tackle... i didn't get your point

The point is that they never do that, they just go sliding in again and again.

What I don't understand is why on earth all the Cfs are so slow and weak! Strength and speed of CFs in comparison with all other positions are significantly low. If they are going to make CFs slow surely then they should make them strong or vice versa. So they can out muscle some defenders and hold on to the ball or out pace them.

I don't think whoever has control over the attribute settings knows who Wayne Rooney is. That dude is a beast.

What has the offside trap done to this game? Everyone is complaining now.

The are multiple ways to get around it, you can use wingers for attacking...they will run through defenders and get lots of chances. Another way is to use no CF, you can score from other players. A third way is to train speed for CFs etc.

It will take time before you can implement some of these options, but it will be possible to get around offside trap...that is theoretically speaking because some people who are using the offside trap are already enhancing it. As for cards, I think that those who use the offside trap get most cards simply because they commit lots of fouls.

I dont think a high finishing/speed CF should have been made at the beginning of the season. It would tip the scale so much towards CFs and away from LF/RF and wingers. We started with 3 different types:

winger=fast/bad finisher
LF/RF=average speed/average finishing
CF=slow/good finisher

Seems fair to me. If you want a super striker you can pick up a winger and train him for finishing, pick up a CF and train him for speed or pick up a LF/RF and work a bit less on both speed and finishing...

OR you can wait until next season to see my new invention *surprise*

Off-side traps driving people nuts! Also too many wrong calls are made, you can clearly see players are behind the defenders and still decision goes against you. Drives you absolutely bonkers!!! Take it away and make the game much more fluid and fun to watch. 15/11/2011 14:13

I've yet to see one offside call that has been wrong recently, show me a link to the defenders clearly offside.

I know exactly what I would do if the offside was taken away completely, Park 4 attackers in your goal, Park 6 defenders in my goal and hoof it up again and again. The offside rule was put in to stop this kind of thing in real life.

Maybe it is just because I haven't played a team with a ridiculous offside trap, but I haven't been killed by it thus far.

It is worth noting though, that unlike in real life where players will, for the most part, take efforts to keep themselves onside, the players within the sim don't take similar actions. I think this is a big reason why there are a much higher number of extremely aggressive offside traps and some far more extreme examples then you would eer see in real life.

In order to help people who are having problems with the offside trap, I've started hostilling high progression junior wingers

Anyone interested let me know. I've got a forecast 90 one that I'm looking to sell.

Substitute
I hope that I am not spoiling this, but why has the topic of advanced formations not come up in beating the offsides trap? 16/11/2011 18:11
