So this conversation follows from a recently closed thread by an @... I have some serious doubts and questions about it and thats why i am opening another thread about it.... perhaps its time for retrospection and understanding what the grey line is... here is the thread for reference: http://en.strikermanager.com/foros/hilo.php?id=439858 here are the rules for posting: http://en.strikermanager.com/foros/hilo.php?id=303880 so the main paragraph which caused the problem is as below: "Spade said: The guys above MAY have the right answer, but I think 'impossible injury' means (should mean) that a player from opposite team tries to hit the football, but due to carelessly forgetting to wear his contact lenses, misses the ball and kicks your players arse by error, and then his foot comes out of your players mouth in process. That would qualify for impossible injury and would involve multiple operations for your player and probably replacement of all internal organs. Hope this clarifies." For the record, I got the inspiration for that response from a Tom & Jerry cartoon; nothing that a 12 yr old is not exposed to. Also I was given the reason that, my speech was being curtailed, so no more cases such as URU's rise again. Those of you who remember Uru and his history will acknowledge that Uru and my style of commenting is completely different. Uru was outright obnoxious. Putting everyone who does not comment in a bland straight forward manner which pleases the hall monitor, in the same box as Uru is just not good common sense. I have not said anything, which i would not repeat to my 12-13yr old niece/nephews. Also, hopefully other @'s will voice in their opinions along with other players as this is really a important question/debate on what is the limit on the tones of speech here.. Speech has many forms and flavours like each colour has many hues... to say that one should only speak in one particular colour is not encouraging a healthy conversation. Also, this post has no humour in it, so hopefully it is not closed asap. P.S. THIS IS NOT A @ BASHING THREAD. INFACT WE NEED THEIR PARTICIPATION SO ALL CAN SHARE THEIR OPINIONS AND MORE LIGHT IS SHED ON THIS GREY AREA. Idea is to have healthy conversation/debate without making a villain of anyone so everyone (players and @'s) are informed of each others opinions. So please ensure that is maintained. I have honestly no problem with a bit of humor and I don't think your comment was obnoxious (learned a new word there), but I also understand @yoyoyoyoyo and I think the place of the comment was maybe not appropriate. It is a very tough work to keep the forum clear and especially when it comes to Doubt and Questions, since many managers will turn to this thread in order to find fine answers to their questions. Since every comment will pop up the thread above the newest ones, not regulating the comments like @yoyoyoyoyo does will make the forum messy and not helpful anymore. ![]() |

I usually post such answers once the main questions is answered, or to sometimes use sarcasm (used to do it a lot earlier) to point out the banality of the question itself. Now days, I tend to use a story based humour whilst either giving credence to what the earlier posts may have replied or for sake of hyperbole. It keeps the forum light and I have seen, makes people more inclusive and active. Extensive moderating will not give you better inclusiveness of newbies; moderating to ensure comments are not racist, bigotry, or simply curses is fine and should be there... but to moderate the style and tone of each response is trying to control too much, which will just result in less conversations. In the end, this is a online community game and forums are primary way to get community buy-in. |

Would appreciate if we don't take the topic away from the one desired in this thread. As for @'s being fiscals or moderators... there just aren't there as many to do the job effectively giving the time and effort needed for free. So we should be THANKFUL for those doing so right now. And yes @fiscals have the power to do many things. This thread is about limiting the speech in the forum and unwanted moral policing, not anything else. If you have grief on other points, please do start another thread, specifically laying down your problem with evidence and links. That will help resolve the matter. |

Back when the game was newer we had a selection of moderators and fiscals, but moderators had limited tools. Over time we learned that there wasn't any point in not having everyone just be a fiscal. So new @'s start as moderators and when they're ready they're moved to fiscal. Fiscals are just advanced moderators, there isn't a difference. |

There is much to moderating, you know? Most managers always go unsatisfied or get infuriated with the replies they get from other managers to their questions in which a quick intervention by @(mod) would have been better! It's obvious that the forum is dying, and that's one of the problem! Moder@tors controls the forum actively, where the work of fisc@l is limited! |
