Essentially, you want this type of player http://en.strikermanager.com/jugador.php?id_jugador=15963598 over this type of player http://en.strikermanager.com/jugador.php?id_jugador=16083932 . Forgetting skills and age, what is the point of having a player stop the ball if he has no idea what to do with it? Each to their own, but I guess that if our advice isn't of any use, no point in taking it on board. Edited by ricdan1985 09-12-2014 23:42 |

Passing is very important for defenders, that CDF with 4% pass will pass 4/100 to his teammates and other 96 probably to opponent forwards and you dont want that. You need passing over 80% and precise pass skill in first 3 skills. |

Thanks for the explanation.. it's hard to learn without starting these threads and being willing to sound foolish! I wish there'd be a forum for "good threads moved here" so that all the useful strategy discussions could be preserved there. The current search functionality isn't the best. SuTaGar said: I think this is better (mine ): Clearances x2 Tackling x2 Running x2 Intercepting x2 That is the perfect training for L/RDF I suggest if training CDF, add x1 run with ball to that list, as nothing brings up their technique as fast. And you will be able to determine very quickly whether a trainer schedules it or not. However, adding run with ball does not aid L/RDFs. Edited by ricdan1985 10-12-2014 02:31 |

I don't think anyone looks to create players with low pass/dribble. But the statement does presume the capacity to achieve it.. But presuming that someone would.. might be forgetting the difficulty of getting to the upper groups and being able to afford the 90+ players! If all I can find are fc88/prog87 players, isn't it better to focus on the ball-stealing aspects and leave out the pass/dribble? Certainly: A CDF with low pass and dribble but 90+ on ballsteal/speed/strength (say 80 overall) may help me dominate div4 and may be serviceable in div3 but isn't good enough for div2. But I know full well that to get into D2 I also need to get my youth coach to 99, buy at least 2 fc95/prog92 DF of each position, and train them for 4 seasons! Because I'm just figuring this stuff out now, I'm falling back to D5 next season.. Edited by Buckeye623 10-12-2014 14:55 |

I've been training xDF's for many seasons now and it comes down to what you want to do with them, ie using them for yourself or training them up fast to sell. I only saw the word technique mentioned once here and it is by far one of the most important attributes to have. Aerial play is an absolute must in your youth training schedule. I train all my defenders with the intention to use my best ones and sell the rest, so I don't make a huge profit from my youth on the whole. The way I train my youth is: Tackling x2 / Running x2 / Aerial play x2 / Intercepting passes 1 Now you're probably thinking why leave Clearances out? Well a long with Tackling, it gives the highest training but tackling is much more important in the earlier stages so clearances can be saved for later. In leaving it out, when the player is 85+ I introduce clearances to their training schedule, the increase to 90 and beyond is much, much faster than others who have trained it earlier. Once in seniors the schedule is now: Tackling x2 / Running x2 / Clearances x2 / Intercept passing x1 ..and eventually when the attributes are almost maxed, training should be focused on passing and especially on LDF/RDF as CDF have no problem in training that. If you just want to sell them then train Clearances from the beginning and buy a more balanced defender with the money you make. |

If you're training all of LDF/CDF/RDF, would aerial x1/Running With the Ball x1 substitute for aerial x2? | 10/12/2014 20:39 |

SuTaGar said: I think this is better (mine ): Clearances x2 Tackling x2 Running x2 Intercepting x2 Low technique lol, I prefer my way, quite quick to train up and not bad for stats http://en.strikermanager.com/jugador.php?id_jugador=17045706 Also I worked on this guy and now cole finishing him nicely, http://en.strikermanager.com/jugador.php?id_jugador=13414722 I always make sure to use running with ball for my CDFs, I know it sacrifices a training for ldf/rdf but I prefer well trained CDFs to keep and they also sell for much more.
