Manchester United Legend, Ryan Giggs will be the caretaker of the club after the dismissal of David Moyes....

Is Sir Alex Ferguson wrong about his choice?

It is strange that Ferguson was so wrong when he picked Moyes. Maybe he needed more time (as if one whole season with almost the same team of the previous one wasn't enough) but that's something we will never know...

What I don't understand is why they have fired him in this moment, with only a few league games remaining and with nothing to fight for. I think it would have been a better idea to wait until the end of the season and trying to make an agreement with him (that would have save Man U a few millions )

The next coach will be chosen very carefully and he will have a huge pressure!

Gives them an extra month to find a replacement, if they decided to sack him why wait another month when they have nothing to play for now

You can look for a replacement while he enjoys his last games in Old Trafford 22/04/2014 19:50

Word is they made the decision to sack him in February but only made it official now because he failed to reach the CL and there was some clause in his contract about making the Champions League.

Totally agree with Gary Neville:

"The players have to take massive responsibility.

"I never once during my 17/18-year career at
United turned around after a game and thought
‘you lost us that game boss’.

"It’s always the players. Players have to take
responsibility, accountability in football."

My personal thoughts are that it takes some time to build an empire, and then following this mantra Moyes should have stayed. In principle at least...

For me, the 'problem' (and being one of the richest clubs in the world, I use the word problem loosely) is that to borrow a phrase from another rich club, Manchester United is "Més que un club". I believe 10% of the club's value is listed on the NYSE. Add in the opportunity cost of not qualifying for Europe next season, and the idea of sticking with Moyes and allowing him the £100m-200m it may take to get that aging squad back to title contenders is just too expensive to entertain.

Manchester United were not looking for just a football manager. Clough may have failed in that role under the same conditions. Ferguson was a master of running an empire on several fronts - on the pitch was just one facet of his span of control. While Moyes may, may just have been the best football manager for the role at the time, was he the man to inherit the reins of possibly the largest sporting empire in the world? Evidently not.

It's a shame, as like I said, I don't believe a real footballing dynasty can be built in less than a couple of seasons, I don't think Manchester United had any other alternative.

I blame the players.. ask the reason! can't they play the way they've Been playing from the past? can't they motivate themselves? even though he dismissed the backroom staffs ...
