oldfirm60174 said: Man to Man v Zone Defense -- what are your thoughts? Especially later in the game when you factor in fatigue, what do you think is more effective? So I play zone all the time because a) I'm lazy / don't want to spend the time scouting my opponents b) I have found that it keeps me from blowing my back line wide open for the most part. I used to play man, but I found my d would blow coverage and then the attacker would get better looks. Maybe this would be different now since I don't have 40 avg players anymore, but I haven't tested it since! |

This is all about the kinda defence you adopt. In a 3-man def, a zonal marking can be very disastrous as the CDF wont do his sweeper work but forced to mark his zones which wouldnt've been so in a man-man marking. Take for example a LDF in a 3-man DEF, who got dispatched while trying to mark a RF wont get any aid from the CDF as the ball aint in the cdf's zone. The main achilles hill of a zonal marking is set pieces, so just forget it once you concede one. Edited by T. Mayor 05-05-2014 07:46 |

buh on the other end of the pitch, zonal marking is the best. 'cos your forwards get the ball with much space btw them and the DEfs as they will slightly be free from getting quickly closed down by the defs which will be the case when on man-man. | 05/05/2014 07:54 |

T. Mayor said: The main achilles hill of a zonal marking is set pieces... I agree, though I've never tested how different it looks man-to-man compared to zonal during set pieces. |

Another kind of tactics: I am now the 3rd in my regular league board in div4 with just 2 points behind the promotion place. Briefly looking at my team, should I push to get into div3 or should I tactize and remain the third to get more powerful during the next season before entering div3? Your thoughts? Pros: * more income per match/sponsor/fan shop * more supporters, further stadium upgrade will start to make sense again * better starting position in the cup * experience Cons: * stadium accessories * i will be a doll for fucking in div3 and most likely relegate after the season * consequent drop in motivation and consequently slower training progress |

I play 2nd place end of next week but must also win all of my games to promote. |

Will you push and risk a relegation next season, or will you let this season go and run fully next season in div4 with preparations for div3? from a long term perspective it appears to be more effective to stay: variant A (run for a promotion) div 4 (current) - div 3 (weak) - div 4 (strong) - div 3 (strong) variant B (stay in div 4): div 4 (current) - div 4 (strong) - div 3 (medium) |
