Apologies if this idea has already been proposed...

I submit that there should be a very (very) small percentage of injuries that are career ending. Players suffering these injuries would be removed from the simulator, leaving a gap in their respective squads.

The primary reason for this would be to enhance realism (through suspense and frustration). The secondary reason would be to act as another control on inflation. Not only would this cause the removal of players who aren't past their prime (therefore decreasing the overall "capitalization" of the player pool), but it would also serve as an incentive to upgrade facilities to lesson the possibility of occurrence (and since facilities exist to curb inflation...)

Finally, it would make sense to me that the harder players are playing, the more likely they are to receive a career-ending injury. You could probably tie it to speed and strength attributes.

Thoughts?

Nice Idea, but u will itself feel bad when yr highest valued player might get injured due to this. even if the player is decreasing in average, u can sell it for some value, but in this case u will not get get anything for losing tht player..

Anyways, I appreciate this suggestion on the condition that in a SM year, overall only 1-2% players might suffer this type of injury n not always the best player in the squad..

I suggested this many times, it's good to know there are like minded people

I think the chance for career ending injuries should go up as the player ages too (exponentially so after age 34 or so). This way, you won't have any 45 year old 80 avg players for sure! Retire before you hurt yourself... I used to hear that all the time. lol.

No it is life like but is unfair for a game. It'll be very frustrating for a player if his star gets injured, especially since it will not be common. Also with the new training it'll be difficult to build another player for that category 13/10/2011 09:41

You're right, I probably would feel bad if it happened to me. But I still think it's best for the realism.

Well, as Admins are worried about inflation, they could add insurance covers for players who could suffer this fate. So clubs can insure their star players and there will be level of insurance covers depends on how much they want to pay. 13/10/2011 13:21

Yes it should be implemented, but only if there is also a insurance feature. Teams with expensive and highly talented players tend to have insurance to safeguard themselves against such scenarios. Insurance can be calculated based on the overall value of the team or even just for individual players, so even teams in lower leagues with just couple of top performing players can insure them.

It would give the big $ teams more expenses too. Make it extra expensive to cover insurance for players with high salaries (players whose salaries are over 50000/week).

This could be one way to control the out of control spending/money gap in this game.
