I've noticed, as I'm sure a whole bunch of people have, that players in an attacking situation (predominantly midfielders and attackers) tend to have the following decision tree thrust upon them a. Pass to a player closer to goal b. Move closer to goal c. Shoot In that order. With more weighting on A if the player is a midfielder. It is ridiculous, as we often times see, when a midfielder on the penalty spot opts to pass to an attacker on the edge of the 18 who is closer to goal line... Can I suggest that the tree be altered for midfielders so that option C becomes more prevalent the closer a player is to goal rather then the goal line? As if Xavi wouldn't have a ping from the penalty spot if he was there, even if David Villa was on the edge of the 18 by the goal line ready to put a cross in. |

I have not seen this, perhaps your slider is too close to short passes? | 02/10/2011 15:22 |

i second this, I see this all the time with my RIM and LIM when they're inside the 18 and have a clear shot, but pass it instead. I have also seen where a player will have open space with the ball, but instead of dribble with the ball through the clear space, they pass to someone marked... | 02/10/2011 20:06 |

What gets worse is that in my PL match today my forwards (for reasons I could never explain, used the same tactics as I always do without experiencing the problem) decided to play near midfield and on my end whenever my midfield brought the ball up. My LF even conceded a penalty in that game. My Midfield ran up around the box all alone, they fired a couple shots (Thank God) but mostly just passed and waited for the defense to catch up. |

Yeah, happens a lot for me too. Four or 5 times a game. What makes it more annoying is that I specifically have my formation set in order for these situations to happen (my LIM or RIM alone in front of the goal), but since they don't shoot, it goes wasted. In the simulator's defense, one of my mids has scored 2 goals so far, but both of them have had many chances to even just shoot, but they fail to do that. | 02/10/2011 21:01 |

Yea, when my OM and IM push into the top of the 18, my CF decides he needs to go hang out at midfield. I'm going to push my D all the way to zone and see if it's because he's trying to man mark someone there. For whatever reason, when I have 4 guys up top and only 4 of their defenders around, my CF takes off. I also see the same problem with with OM and IM passing back out to the wings when they're at the top of the box. It's frustrating to say the least. |

Oh, I thought I was the only one who felt like that. It's happened to me a couple of times. I don't really expect them to do a Lampard and score from a mile away, but they should opt to shoot if they're open for goal. I guess the programmers can implement this with the mental stat of players - where the higher mental stat means the better decision making of players. |

Totally, and I'd like to see the Experience stat play some role as well somehow, like perhaps a combination of the two would see the player making the best decision for their ability |
