I found that by doing advanced formation and keeping my CF near the 18-yard box and my IM near the midfield line, the switch rarely happens, and only in the realistic situation where the IM is advancing with the ball, and the CF drops back momentarily to cover his now empty position. After the IM passes the ball, the CF returns. It used to happen for an entire half that they would switch spots. However, I think it is a trait programmed into the simulator that midfielders are far more prone to pass than to shoot. Both my RIM and IM have let loose some great distance shots as well as taken opportunities inside the goal box on corners or when receiving a loose ball, but they will pass to a forward if one is closer to the goal. I actually *LIKE* this trait because my forwards have way better finishing, and thus score tons more goals than my lame midfielders will do unless I train shots on goal continuously. I have noticed that higher average midfielders make MUCH better decisions, my 69 and 72 RIMs both take shots when opportunities present themselves. Also, higher average GKs don't do stupid dives away from the ball nearly as often. These are just my theories, so take them for what they're worth: not much |

True. I had been wondering if it was simply game mechanics, which I can understand since I am in Div 6 with at best average players. But my RIM and LIM probably have better finishing stats than my forward. They should take those shots. And while I realize that may mean that I should upgrade my forward (I really do need to), it doesn't address the fact that this simulator was supposed to introduce more of a "manager" aspect to the game, but if I can't create good advanced formations that leave a player open since they won't take the shot anyway... That seems to defeat the purpose of the advanced formations, and the simulator itself. I realize that an AI update would be significant and I wouldn't expect it immediately, but I do think it's noteworthy and at least something to consider for next season's update. | 03/10/2011 06:15 |

I think a stat like "football IQ" would be great, for when to shoot, when to pass, positioning on offense and defense, sneaky fouls, yo momma jokes so the other team gets frustrated, etc. | 03/10/2011 06:37 |

Ironically, in my last game my mids seemed to shoot a lot more :S Didn't change my tactics or anything like that, may have been the team I was playing against but definitely noticed the difference. Anyways, my mids were among the goals scored and they were from outside the 18 too which was good to see. Still saw the effect we've been talking about but it seemed to be more localised to certain attacks (sometimes it was actually pretty funny). Not sure if the sim's been updated or whatever but I could see a leveled improvement from my team. Much better, but still not quite good enough ...but much better | 03/10/2011 12:50 |
