nobody important said: The starting price is the reserved price. What you are advocating is called shill bidding, bidding on your own auction. It is illegal in the EU and in the US. Look it up if you don't believe me. I say again, this is cheating and in the real world it would end up in court. I have to agree with nobody important. In any case, if you happen to come across such an auction with an owner slowly bumping up the price you would be smart to avoid it all together. I think that as a solution for owners who buy back their own players, they must forfeit a greater %, probably 10-15%. It might not be perfect, but at the very least people will be cautious to have any reason to buy back their own players. |

In my opinion, auto-bids are legal, but not ethical. I never use that feature because I think it's not fair for the managers that already bid for my players. |

Could this be classified as a 'bug' of the system that players (even admins) are using to benefit from? If so then they should be punished. Either way, it would be nice of one of the admins would post on the thread to clarify the situation. |

After giving it some thoughts, I agree with the people who think it should be impossible. If a manager wants to put a player on the market, he should think about which minimum price he wants. He should not be able to bid on his own players just because he wants a higher price, that's something he should have thought about earlier. However, as some pointed out already: when a player is on the market by mistake, the manager should be able to cancel the auction. But then again, that is already possible, since offers immediately after start of auction are very rare in this game. An adaption could be that a player could be removed from the market untill (f.i.) 24 hours after he's been put on (even when another team had bid on him). |

Agree, seller should not allow to bid. Manager are able to cancel the auction until someone bid like now is a brilliant rule. |

It is actually one of the auction world tactics, I think it's fair what they're doing. It is a risk they take because a player may back out of the auction and they will end up buying their own player. You just have to see how much you are willing to pay for the player. | 24/06/2011 02:04 |
