I don't really see the problem because of three reasons: a) the player could be put on auction by mistake b) I don't see much difference with just setting the initial bid higher? c) The managers who do this, will pay 5% tax and are punished indirectly |

but if people dont realise that the person trying to outbid is the original seller then it is unfair. It shouldnt be allowed it could be classed as a form of price fixing and in real life could be classed as price fixing. As you all say why not increase price initially but I dont see how you can accidentally put someone up for auction you have to click about 3 different times so It can't be a slip up! Also 5% isnt exactly a punishment I feel. Some football clubs in real life have been punished for doing dodgy deals by loosing points, been relegated and more. | 22/06/2011 00:56 |

Like a lot of things on this site, you make progress not by being a good manager but by finding the weaknesses in the game. To bid on your own player is cheating plain and simple. If you don't like the price you are getting you only have to cancel the auction and then start it again at the price you want. If this was the real world this sort of behaviour would end up in court. | 22/06/2011 09:21 |

This has been heavily discussed in the spanish server and never got a solution. | 22/06/2011 10:57 |

I don't see a problem with this. The owner can put a starting price of $500,000. Are you going to stop that? If he wants to put a starting price of $100,000 to attract competition and then bid higher every time you bid it's his right. If you really want the player pay for it, if not don't bid. If the owner put a low starting price and his player is about to go for a lot less that his value, he should be able to bid higher to get a fair price. |

Mate you can not cancel the auction once the bidding started. If you are not getting a fair price for your player you have the right to bid and push the price up. In the real world it would not end up in court. It is called auction with reserved price. That means that you are the highest bidder but if you don't reach the reserved price the auction is cancelled and you get nothing. You might even be approached by the seller and told that as the highest bidder you have one last chance to pay the reserved price and get it or leave it. | 22/06/2011 11:30 |

The starting price is the reserved price. What you are advocating is called shill bidding, bidding on your own auction. It is illegal in the EU and in the US. Look it up if you don't believe me. I say again, this is cheating and in the real world it would end up in court. | 22/06/2011 12:51 |

This is not the real world and within the rules of this game so be careful when you start calling players cheats. It is atagonistic and uncalled for on a forum. Players recently had high AV, then -20%, then back up to -10% and 2 yrs younger, so their value was changing considerably throughout the auction, and thanx to this feature of the game, the owner was able to adjust his minimum bid. |

You are right, it is not for me to decide if this is cheating, it is for the admins. But for a football management game to be credible it should not be possible to take actions that would result in a criminal prosecution in the real world. I would expect the admins to take action against someone who acted in this way. Lets face it they have been very eager to take action a against people who have broken the rule which says you can't exploit any bug in the program when they got free players. Will the admins be consistent and take the same line in this case? Maybe not, it seems there is a very loose interpretation of the rules on occasions here. Having said that I think the admins are working towards making this a very good game and am confident they will iron out these teething problems over time. | 22/06/2011 13:24 |

Admins have often answered a similar thread to say that there is nothing illegal with this action. By all means add a new suggestion and/or poll. |
