In a bid to understand how Manager and Team rankings work, some teams were randomly selected and closely followed for several weeks in Season 7. Data were collected daily and analysed which resulted to some interesting findings. These findings have remained true in Season 8.
It is obvious that teams are ranked according to the number of supporters they have (Team Rankings:

During this study, a definite amount could not be placed on how much supporters that were gained per game and it was even difficult to decipher an absolute pattern. However, it was generally observed that defeating relatively strong teams resulted to higher gains in supporters while losing to lower teams or even beating very lowly ranked teams resulted to a decline in supporters gained.

(Table showing supporters gained by a team per game over consecutive games. Scores in Green=win and Red=loss)
Teams in lower divisions tend to have a lower increase in supporters per game when compared to teams in higher divisions but even within a division, this could vary widely. For two teams that were observed in Division 4, while one gained an average of 126 supporters per game, the other gained an average of 106 per game. This supporters’ gain increases as a team accumulates a streak of wins. It was observed that the amount of supporters a team gained after each game was similar to that of its previous game; mostly increasing after a win or reducing after a loss. So if a manager has achieved a high supporters’ gain per game, it will have to take a lot of losses to 'significantly reduce' that amount.
It is important to note that the amount of supporters a team gain could even drop after winning a team that is ranked relatively very low. In a particular instance, the amount gained by a team dropped by 13 despite defeating a System Bot 6-0!
How experience is gained appears to have changed, at least once, over the seasons. From Season 7 and up to this moment, managers gain experience according to the number of goals their team score in a game. It works as follows;
- for each goal scored in a win or an away draw, a manager gains 45 experience points.
- for each goal scored in a loss or a home draw, a manager gains 30 experience points.
- no experience points are gained when no goals are scored by one's team.
The maximum experience points that can be gained in a game is 400. That is, no more experience points are gained after the ninth goal in a win. It could not be ascertained if this limit held true for a game that ended in a draw as no 9-9 draws or above were observed.
