******Episode 10********
***************
***************
Barrister clement was still on the
floor, he
had just been shot on his arm. All
the
police officers had since fled the
court. Mr.
Jacobs was whisked away using
the
blackmaria. Few minutes later,
soldier
officers arrived the location and
cleared
everybody out of the court. The
case was
adjourned till further notice.
Meanwhile, agent white was still
suprised
how he missed. Barrister clement
had put
his hands at akimbo and agent
white
wanted to shoot through the
hole formed
by his hand but immediately he
wanted to
pull the trigger, Barrister briggs
brought
his hands down. White wanted
to abort
but it was too late, he had
already pulled
the trigger. The bullet met
Barrister
Clement on his arm. Before he
could adjust
and aim, the courtroom had
become
rowdy. He didn’t see Grace again
and
every other person Had taken
cover. He
had failed in his operation.
Paul adeyemi walked into a
building. He
slid his keycard at the slot and
used his
fingerprint. The door opened at
once. He
entered and met three men
inside.
“Where is agent white?” he
asked.
“he is not yet back, one of the
men
answered him”. He did as if he
wanted to
unbotton his shirt and he
brought out a
little camera. It was the camera
that the
people in the building where
using to
monitor the court session. You
would
never know there was a camera
there, you
will only see his silver coloured
large
button.
He paced around the hall for a
few
seconds, removed his wristwatch
and
slammed it on the wall.
“we failed!!!” he shouted.
***************
**************
“Jimmy what have you got?” sani
asked,
coming down from his office.
“I used satellite and i got our
man, he
came down from the Gmax
building at
exactly 1:20pm. I switched to
street cam to
view his face but it looks like he
is a
proffesional, he was putting on a
hood
and bent his head so i wasn’t
able to see
his face” Jimmy explained.
“You mean you lost him?” sani
asked
impatiently.
“chill!! He entered into the mall
by the
street. 45minutes later he came
out and i
sent agent musa to stalk him. We
got his
address, we are just waiting for
your
orders to arrest him.” jimmy
explained.
“Jimmy, thats a decoy, the real
shooter
must have escaped through
another route
or is still in the mall” sani said.
“Not according to neighboors”
Jimmy
chipped in.
His neighbours claimed he Is an
armedrobber who had been
terrorising
the area and just recently, he has
been
seen with strange faces”
“Jimmy this is terrorism we are
talking
about, not petty robbery” sani
explained.
“It still doesn’t hurt to bring him
in for
questioning. He is our only viable
lead”
Jimmy advised.
“Okay then, call agent musa, tell
him to go
with few other field agents” sani
said. Just
then his phone rang and he
picked it. It
was the special advicer to the
governor on
security matters. Sani picked the
call. The
special adviser just wanted to
know how
far they where with the
investigation.
“we have a suspect sir, we are
bringing
him in for questioning as we
speak” sani
replied and the line went dead.

Agent white walked into the
building
dejectedly. He dropped the bag
containing
his sniper on the table and
located a chair
to sit without caring about the
four men
who were staring at him.
“Tunde what went wrong?” Paul
asked.
Tunde was white’s real name.
They only
use their various pseudos when
going for
operations.
“It was just some technical
glitches” white
replied.
“Hope you weren’t followed” one
of the
men who had been silent asked.
“Can they follow shadow? I made
sure
they lost track of me” white
replied.
“Good. We just received intel that
Grace
has been admitted in Blue-cross
Hospital”
Paul informed him.
“Alright then, i will have to finish
what i
started” white said.
“Nah mehn, i’ll just have to visit
an old
friend” Paul said and smiled.
***************
***************
A Hilux van drove into the NATU
building
and went straight to the parking
lot and
parked.
The driver first came out then
four other
men came out. One had
handcuffs on his
hand and from the look in his
eyes, you
can tell he was in a sorry state.
Two men led him into the
building while
the remaining men stood outside
gisting.
Immediately sani saw the men he
went
towards them.
“Good job agents.” he said
“Take him to the holding room. I
will be
there in 15minutes.”
The two men led him to the left
wing of
the building and followed a
single lane
route which led to the holding
room.
“Jimmy i want you to pull his
records for
me” sani said to jimmy.
“Am on it” he replied.
****************************
Instead of the normal police
station where
Jacobs was previously kept, he
was
transported to the kiri kiri
maximum
prison located in ojo, Lagos.
According to
the policemen, it was for his own
safety as
the kiri kiri prison is more
secured than
the police cell. Jacobs had
protested and
wanted to call his lawyer but he
remembered that his lawyer had
been
shot so he resigned to fate. The
prisoners
he saw there were not smiling.
They all
had this ‘dangerous aura’
radiating from
their body. He stood there
looking like a
kid who was entering his class
for the first
time.
“Come, na ajebor you come form
for
prison? Shey our face look like
television”
someone asked him. He didn’t
know how
to reply him so he just stood
there and
continued staring at them like a
scarecrow.
“You be kuruma abi? Oya skido
go draw
that guy come here” he ordered.
A huge guy stood up and started
advancing towards him. He
nearly fainted
only looking at the guy’s biceps.
The guy
just came and hung his hand
across
Jacobs neck.
“Make una leave this one, him
never dey
used to here naim make” the guy
spoke.
“Attah wetin be your own na? Na
the third
prisoner wey you don save today
be this o,
make e do you o” the guy
barked. Attah
didn’t reply him, he just drew
Jacobs to
one corner and they started
chatting.

*******Episode 12*********
Sani walked into the holding
room with a
file in his hand. He came with
one other
man. He started reading from his
file
“Philip mba, arrested for
armedrobbery,
grantheft auto. Convicted once
and is just
coming out of prison.
Tell me, do they have sniper
classes in the
prison”
“I dont know what you are
talking about”
philip replied.
“You see this man here, he is a
former
police officer. He is trained to
inflict pain
without remorse”
The man dropped his bag,
opened it and
brought out it’s content. Inside
the bag
was one pressing iron, one ‘talk
true’ and
an electric wire.
Sani brought out a picture and
showed
him. The man in the picture wore
a black
hood and a khaki, he was
bending his
head so his face wasn’t visible.
“Thats not me, i dont bend my
head when
walking” he replied. By this time,
the other
man had already plugged the
pressing
iron to an electric source, philip
swallowed
saliva when he saw it.
“But you were wearing this same
cloth in
the same area at the same time
we were
looking for this man. Is that a
coincident?”
sani asked.
Philip started getting the
connection.
“i can explain” he shouted
“start talking” sani said.
“I was in that mall when a young
girl was
passing without looking up. She
was
holding a liquid. Before i could
stop her,
she hit me and the liquid poured
on my
cloth. A youngman who was
watching the
whole event bought this cloth for
me. I
even saw when he bought it. I
had to
wear the new cloth because i
was getting
late for an event.” philip
explained
The two men weren’t satisfied
with the
explanation. The other man
raised philip’s
shirt and use the hot iron to
press his skin.
Philip shouted, his screams filled
the whole
room.
***************
****************
Doctor the patient at ward 18
just woke
up and is requesting to see you”
a nurse
informed Dr. Amos.
“I will be there soon” Dr. Amos
replied.
Meanwhile, in ward 18, Grace
had just
woke up from sleep and the first
person
she saw was paul.
“Hello sweetheart” he said.
She wanted to scream but he
quickly
covered her mouth with his
hand.
“shhhhhhh!!!! am not here to kill
you” he
said.
“Am just gonna give you this
injection and
you will go into a long sleep.
When you
wake up, you might be lucky to
remember
your name”
Dr. Amos was walking fast, he
was about
reaching ward 18 when nurse
Amaka
called him.
“Dr, you are supposed to be in
the theater”
she said.
“yes, i’ll be there shortly, Dr. Mark
is already
there” he said and wanted to go
when the
nurse held his arm.
“what is it Amaka?” he asked.
“Its just that Dr. Mark is relatively
new to
suggery, i think you should be
there” she
said.
“Dont worry Amaka, i will be
there as soon
as i finish from this ward” he
replied and
still wanted to go but Amaka still
held his
arm.
“Remember our date?” she
asked, smiling
mischiviously
“i do, Dr” Amos replied.
“can i go now?”
Amaka was still thinking when
he turned
and started going. Amaka ran
after him
but she was too late, he opened
the door
to ward 18 and entered.

**Episode 13**
Being tagged a criminal is very
dangerous in
nigeria especially when a police
officer is
involved. The interrogation
method is so
crude but yet ‘overly efficient’.
Overly efficient in the sense that
even an
innocent person could admit to
commiting a
crime he knows nothing about
just to avoid
the pains of interrogation.
Philip was unlucky as he had
been trapped
in the webs of interrogation in
the nigerian
style.
His flesh was designed with an
iron. It got
to a time when the iron was
removed and
replaced with Unclad wire that
was used to
electricute philip.
His wailing and weeping
sounded like a
meloudious tone for the man
who was busy
doing a wonderful job of making
philip cry
like a baby.
Philip increased his shout to
draw attention
from outside but the hall was
sound proof
as only those inside the room
could hear
him shout.
“I swear, i dont know anything
about a
sniper” philip said while crying.
“Shut up!!” the man shouted and
increased
the voltage of the iron.
Samson who had been standing
outside all
this while, entered the room.
“Excuse me sir” he said.
“Yes? Samson, whats the
problem?” sani
asked
“i think the polygraph would be
a more
efficient method sir” samson
replied.
“Polygraph? I thought it was
faulty?” sani
asked.
“it has been rectified sir”
“Okay then, lets use the
polygraph” sani
concluded.
The polygraph was brought and
it was
tested with already verified
questions like ‘is
your name philip mba?’ ‘have you
stolen
before?’ when the result of the
Polygraph
were displayed, it showed that it
was in
excellent condition so it was
consequently
used. After the questioning, it
was shown
that philip was innocent all along
and he
was just used as a decoy to
facilitate the real
culprit’s escape.
Sani was pained. He went out to
the main
hall and summoned everybody.
“Look up everybody” he said
“There is a sniper out there and
the state
government is on our necks. This
is a new
trend in Nigeria and the
government wants
us to nip it by the bud before it
spreads like
bombing. We had the wrong
suspect and
now we are back to nowhere. I
want all our
resources to be put into finding
this
criminals. Suspend whatever you
are doing
that is not related to this case.
This is
priority 1” with that , he walked
to his office.
Jimmy was calling him but he
didn’t reply. He
blamed Jimmy for taking the bait.
He knew it
was a false flag from the
beginning but
Jimmy didn’t see it.

Attah and Jacobs got along pretty
fast. In no
time they had began gisting like
old time
acquaintance.
“so tell me, what brought you
here?” Attah
asked
Jacobs sighed and explained
everything to
him.
“You mean paul Adeyemi did this
to you?”
Attah asked
“Do you know him?” Jacobs
asked his own
question.
“yes ofcourse, he’s the reason i’m
in prison”
“how do you mean?” Jacobs
asked.
“2 years ago, some soldier
officers went to
ivory coast for peace keeping
when ousted
president Laurent gbagbo
refused to vacate
office. 5soldiers in that troupe
Where
diverted to pakistan for special
training in
every form of terrorism” Attah
explained.
“Who diverted them?” Jacobs
asked.
“The then minister for defence,
rt.gen Shola
Ajayi.
“he had trained them for his
special use as
thugs for the upcoming election”
“paul was one of them. They call
themselves
the invisible quartet. They are
invisible
because they leave normal lives
as
soldiermen but they are very
dangerous. I
had so much information about
them that
could put them behind bars for
good, so
they set me up”
“Why didn’t they kill you, why did
they set
you up?” Jacobs asked in suprise.
“You underestimate the power
of an
igalaman, even bullets respect
us” Attah
bragged.
“so how were you set up?”
“They stashed cocaine in my
room and
tipped the police. I was arrested
and
sentenced to 15years in prison”
Attah
explained.
Jacobs wanted to ask why his
igala jazz
failed him but he kept quiet.
“look we can help each other. I
can help you
get justice while you help me end
the
invisible quartet”
“I would have loved to but am
also in prison,
there is nothing i can do” Jacobs
explained.
“Actually there is something you
can do, but
first we need to make a call”
“We are in prison, how is that
possible?”
Jacobs asked.
“Dont worry about that, we have
our way in
the prison”
Warder come o, i wan make call”
Attah
shouted.
The warder came quickly.
“1minute na 100naira o” he
informed them.
“No wahala” Attah assured him.
***************

Amaka was still chasing Dr.Amos
but he
quickly went in. He met the room
empty save
for grace who was sleeping
peacefully. Just
then, his phone rang.
“Hello” he answered the call.
“Amos, its me Jacobs” the caller
said. Amos
was shocked but he composed
himself.
“How is my wife” Jacobs asked.
“thats the problem, i was told
she was
awake but when i came she was
still
sleeping. Her temperature is very
low, her
pulse is weak and her heart beat
is faint.
“remember me in hell” Attah
whispered
“What?” Jacobs gave him an
inquiring look.
“it is a drug they use to cause
permanent
amnesia. When your wife wakes,
she will
have total memory loss” Attah
explained.
“Although i read of its antidote,
but am not
too sure of its preparation. Tell
your friend
we’ll text him the preparation of
the
antidote.
Jacobs relayed the information
and they
ended the call. Few minutes later,
a text
came into Dr. Amos’ cell. It
contained the
reagents for the antidote and its
preparation. Dr. Amos knew most
of the
reagents and he had them at
home except
one. He quickly put a call across
to Amaka to
check for the reagent in the
hospital lab.
After waiting, he went after
Nurse amaka
but she said the reagent wasn’t
in the
hospital.
“When is the next supplies” Dr.
Amos asked
“Tomorrow” she replied.
The text indicated that the
antidote must be
given before five hours of the
drug’s
infection. Dr.Amos walked back
to his office
dejectedly. As soon as he left,
Amaka
removed the reagent from where
she was
hiding it and smiled.
As soon as Dr. Amos reached his
office, he
started thinking. All of a sudden a
name
came to his head.
“David” he shouted and reached
for his
phone.

*******episode 15*********
Jacobs and Attah sat quietly in
the prison.
Jacobs couldn’t believe his ears.
His wife
was going to wake up only to
forget
everything she had ever known
including
him, that is if Dr. Amos fails in his
assignment.
The invisible quartet were very
sharp, they
figured if they left Grace to
testify, she will
implicate paul Adeyemi and if
they killed her,
it will raise suspicions so the best
thing to
do was to make her forget
everything
including her name.
“How come you know so much
about
them?” Jacobs broke the silence.
“I’v been following them ever
since the
death of Shola Ajayi. I knew his
death wasn’t
odinary so i launched an
investigation into
the case.
After their training in pakistan,
the invisible
quartet went back to Ivory coast
to join
their colleagues in the peace
keeping
mission. Remember, the minister
died when
adressing the soldiers after they
returned
from the peacekeeping mission.
The invisible Quartet knew that
the minister
was only trying to use them for
his selfish
gains so they killed him in that
occasion”
Attah explained.
“You mean, Shola Ajayi was
murdered? I
thought he just slumped and
died”
“That was what everybody
believed. Infact
the autopsy report showed that
he died of
heart attack but it was Paul
Adeyemi who
personally killed him.
Remember when the minister
shook hands
with all the returning soldiers? It
was at that
point that paul killed him.
Inbetween paul’s
index and middle finger was a
highly
poisonous substance. When the
minister
shook hands With paul, he
quickly used the
substance to pierce the minister
just above
his wrist. It was relatively
painless and the
minister didn’t know what went
on.
The substance has high affinity
for
magnesium so it went straight to
the heart
which has a rich supply of the
mineral. While
in the heart it carries out its
work of causing
cardiac arrest. First the heartbeat
increases
thereby transporting the blood at
a relatively
faster rate. The substance is then
transported to the liver through
the hepatic
portal artery. It is in the liver that
the
substance gets detoxificated and
transported to the epidermal cell
of the skin.
It is then excreated as crystals
through the
sweatpore.
This happens at a pretty fast rate
such that,
when the victim dies and a test is
done, the
substance would not be found in
the
bloodstream of the victim” Attah
explained.
“Even though i didn’t understand
most of
the things you just said, am sure
it must
have been a highly complex
procedure. Well,
i also have a shocker for you”
In the university, I and Amos and
Clement
where best of pals. Infact we
were called the
three musketeers.” Jacobs
informed him
“Thats great. Attah exclaimed, i
would love
to see the three musketeers
versus the
invisible quartet”

********Episode 16*******
Dr. Amos picked up his phone
and dialed
David’s number. David was a guy
he met in
the university,he is a first class
graduate of
biochemistry. Despite his good
grades, David
rejected every job offered him.
His final
project in the university was to
Study the chemical method of
increasing the
blood’s cluster of differientiation
4(cd4)
count after HIV infection.
He did the preliminaries in his
project but
after his graduation, he felt his
project gave
him an insight into finding the
cure to HIV.
Upon graduation, David has been
living a
secluded live as the only thing he
does was
mixing chemicals to give him a
required
recipe. His friends had all
aboundoned him
since he didn’t have enough time
for them.
If they is anywhere Dr. Amos can
get his
reagent, then it has to be from
David.
After the fourth ring, David finally
picked up
his phone. He had been
searching for the
phone since morning but he
didn’t see it. He
later found it inside his conical
flask when
the phone rang.
“Whatsup Davo” Amos said
immediately
David picked the call.
David didn’t allow Amos to land
before he
began bombarding him with his
discoveries.
“Hey doc! I think i’v found the
cure to HIV.
Look, i know this sounds crazy
but i found a
drug that can kill someone for
approximately 1hour and the
antidote can
be used to revive the victim. You
know the
HIV virus only survives in a living
medium so
when the host dies, it also dies.
In the 1hour
period when the victim is
temporarily dead, i
can purge the Hiv virus out if his
system
using my wonder drug” David
explained
excitedly.
“waoh!! I’m happy for you”
Amos played
along.
“yesso, i will also develop a drug
to cure
highly advanced cancer. The idea
is….” David
wanted to continue but Dr.Amos
cut him
Short.
“Do you have Benzodiazepine?
He asked.
“Yes, i have what do you want…”
“Dont worry, i’ll be in your
doorstep in a
short while” Dr. Amos said and
ended the
call. He reached for his keys and
quickly
went to his car.
In less than 20minutes he was
already in
David’s house, thanks to his
knowlege of
shortcuts.
He sounded the door bell but he
got no
reply, he knocked and still got no
reply so he
barged in.
He was looking around the room
and was
wondering while the room was
so unkept.
All of a sudden, someone
shouted and
jumped out of nowhere.
Amos was shocked but he held
himself and
turned only to see David standing
with a
knife in his hand. He was Unclad
save for the
towel he tied round his waist. His
hair was
bushy and his beard were
overgrown.
“whatsup doc” he said.
“David, why are you holding a
knife” Amos
asked, scared.
“Knife? David asked, suprised
and then
looked at his hand.
“i thought it was a spatula” he
exclaimed.
“so where is the
Benzodiazepine? Amos
asked.
“follow me David said and led
him to the
bathroom. He went to the
bathtub and
brought out a testtube.
“this is hydroquinol” David told
him.
“many people think hydroquinol
is
dangerous and can cause cancer
but my
experiments show that the
product of the
oxidation of hydroquinol in the
presence of
aliphatic amines gives you
quinone which
infact can be used to cure
cancer”
“Okay, thats good” Amos said
trying to be
time concious. He knew better
than to rush
David. If he rushes David, he just
might Get
angry and drive him out of his
house.
“one other thing doc, i urinated
and
discovered it had a ph of 3.8 so i
used it as a
medium to save some of my
reagents” david
imformed him.
“you mean your urine was that
acidic and
you didn’t see a doctor?” Amos
wanted to
ask him if he smokes but he
already knew
the answer. Smoking could lead
to kidney
problem and this makes the
patient to
produce acidic urine(smokers
beware).
“nah nah nah… I dont need a
doc,i can take
care of myself” he said.
He then led Dr.Amos to his
kitchen where he
kept the Benzodiazepine.
Dr. Amos collected it and rushed
out
immediately
“goodluck which your HIV drug”
he shouted
and bolted out of the house. In
his joy, he
forgot to follow his shortcut. He
drove on
the mainroad and encountered
traffic jam.
He looked at his front and he
couldn’t see
the end. He wanted to go back
but he was
already trapped. He looked at his
wrist
watch, he had 3hours 30minutes
left.

********Episode 17***********
Sani was under pressure from
the state
government to arrest the guy
with the
sniper but he didn’t even have
any clue as to
where to find him. Just some few
minutes
back, the governor called him
and was
threatening to involve the
nigerian army if
NATU fails to do their job.
This is one of the most tasking
mission
NATU is embarking on and the
state
government might decide to
scrap them if
there were not efficient. All this
and many
more problems on his neck made
him to
regret why he left his Job in the
sss just to
become the director of NATU.
If things go wrong and they
don’t find a
way to change the status quo of
events,
then they might as well start
learning trade
because the government would
not hesitate
to scrap them and they will
become jobless
just like their colleagues in the
other states.
He thought about the mouths he
was
supposed to feed, how on earth
would he
cater for his family when he gets
sack?
Perhaps all this wouldn’t have
happened if
he hadn’t listened to jimmy’s
opinion.
But jimmy had been his trusted
man in the
corperation. If there are any two
people sani
trusts in his corperation then it
has to be
Jimmy and agent Musa.
He quickly called Jimmy.
“Jimmy Nwachukwu” Jimmy
replied as soon
as he picked the call.
“are you guys making
headways?” sani
asked
“I think you might want to see
this” Jimmy
replied.
Sani dropped the phone and
smiled. This is
one of the reasons he liked
Jimmy, he is very
efficient.
A well dressed man on suit
walked into the
prison Yard. He was looking
corperate as if
he was going for a business
meeting. He
was holding a black leather.
“Good afternoon officer” he
greeted the
warder on duty.
“Ehm.. Good afternoon, wetin i fit
do for
you?
“Ehm.. Officer i want…” he was
saying
something when his phone rang.
“Hello. he picked the call.
What!!! My daughter got an
accident? I will
be there right away” he said and
ended the
call.
“Ehm, officer no vex, them just
call me say
my daughter get accident, i been
wan see
my friend but i no go fit see am
again, just
help me give am this food, him
name na
Olundare jacobs, na yesterday
them transfer
am come here” he handed the
officer the
leather.
“Tell am say na Dr. Amos bring
am” he said.
“Oga, no be police station we
they, na
prison. We no dey collect food
here, we the
feed them” The warder informed
him.
“Ah officer, na my friend o, and
na him call
me say make i bring food for
am” The man
said.
“Oya taste the food” the warder
commanded.
“Oga na there small wahala dey. I
get ulcer
and pepper dey that food. My
doctor say
make i no eat pepper” he
informed the
warder and handed him some
naira notes.
“just use this one buy pure
water” he said.
The warder collected the money
with smiles
on his face.
“wetin be your friend name
again?” he
asked.
“Na Olundare jacobs” the man
replied, stood
up and left. When he got outside,
he
brought out his phone and
dialed a number.
“mission accomplished” he said
and ended
the call.
The warder took the food to
Jacobs.
“Olundare Jacobs” he called out.
Jacobs
bolted up immediately and went
to the man.
“Dr. Amos say make i give you
this food” he
informed him.
Jacobs gracefully took the food
and went to
his corner to sit. Attah was
snoring as he
was fast asleep. Jacobs opened
the food and
saw the lap of an unlucky
chicken sitting
comfortably on a fried rice which
looked
very palatable. He swallowed
saliva.
“This is going to be a wonderful
meal” he
thought.
Dr. Amos almost spoilt his car
horn as if that
would make the cars in front of
him
disappear. Sometimes he wished
he lived in
a less busy town.
He was sweating profusely and
he didn’t
even care, all he cared about was
to prepare
the antidote for his patient. He
had spent
close to thirty minutes in the hold
up and he
hasn’t even moved his car. An
idea popped
to his head. He picked up his
phone and
called his mechanic. In
20minutes time the
mechanic was there. He handed
over the key
to his car to the mechanic and
quickly
crossed to the other lane where
the hold up
wasn’t as much as the one he
parked his
car. His plan was to follow one of
his
shortcut and when he gets to a
clear road,
he would stop a public transport
vehicle. He
looked at his Benzodiazepine
which he
rapped in a black leather and
smiled.
He was about going when a bike
came from
behind and snatched the leather
from his
hand.

********episode 18**********
Hunger sometimes make us not
to think
properly. Jacobs was starving
and here he
was, face to face with a
sumptious meal. He
couldn’t wait till Attah wakes up
because he
didn’t trust the other inmates
they could
decide to collect the food from
his hand.
He brought out the spoon and
quickly
scooped the rice. He was about
taking it
inside his mouth but his
concious kept on
disturbing him.
“Why would he be eating while
his friend
who had been helping him is
sleeping in
hunger?”
He decided to wake Attah.
He slapped attah but the guy
didn’t respond.
He slapped him again but the guy
rather
switched position and continued
his sweet
sleep.
“Maybe God wants me to eat this
one alone”
Jacobs thought.
He concentrated on his rice and
wanted to
start eating when Attah opened
his eyes
slowly.
“Who gave you this food” Attah
asked and
immediately stood up.
“You are awake, i was trying to
wake you
but you didn’t wake” Jacobs
replied.
“Thats not the question i asked,
who gave
you this food?”
“My friend Dr. Amos” Jacobs
replied.
“Isn’t Amos supposed to be
preparing the
antidote? Did you see him?”
It was only then that Jacobs
started seeing
sense in what Attah was saying.
He felt silly
for even thinking about eating
the food.
“Come, una see food the do guy
shey? oya
bring am” one of the inmates
ordered and
collected the rice. He took the rice
to his
corner and started eating it
despite pleas
from Jacobs and Attah.
He ate like a mad man. Who
would blame
him? Its been long since he ate
That kind of
food.
He got tired of the rice and he
grabbed the
chicken. After devouring it he
pushed the
plate aside and gave a loud belch.
“Life is good” he confessed.
Jacobs and Attah were watching
in utter
dissapointment, they just missed
their meal
all because of fear that the food
was
poisoned. There were still
looking when
something strange happened.
The guy who just finished eating
the rice
grabbed his neck as if trying to
stop
something from going down his
throat. He
fell to the ground and started
shaking like a
cursed chicken, a foamy
substance was
oozing from his mouth. All the
Inmates
stood there watching in awe.
He kept gasping for breathe,
jerking while
placing his hand on his chest.
Suddenly, life
was drained out of him. He gave
up and laid
lifeless on the ground.
“Warder come o, person don
die” someone
shouted.
The prison warders all ran
towards them
but they didn’t enter the prison.
“Oya make una leave that place,
we go call
doctor” one of the men replied
them and
wanted to go when he
remembered
something.
“Mr. Jacobs, your lawyer wan see
you”
Jacobs stood up and was led to
another
room where barrister clement
was waiting
for him. His left hand hung on a
bandage
which was placed across his
neck.
“Clement, how are you doing?”
Jacobs
asked.
“Am okay, how are you faring in
prison?”
clement asked.
“Its been tough but i’m
managing. So what
brought you here?”
“Jacobs i dont know how to say
this without
sounding like a bad friend”
clement started.
“What is it?” Jacobs asked.
“I’m withdrawing from the case”
Amos was thinking about how
his friend
would feel when he discovers
that he failed
in the little assignment given to
him. He
thought about the effect his
failure would
have on grace. He couldn’t go
back back to
David because he wasn’t sure if
David would
have an extra reserve moreso, he
wasn’t
sure if David would give him one
of his most
precious chemicals, how he gave
him about
an hour ago was still a suprise to
him. All
these, Amos was thinking in a
split-second.
He used all his thoughts as a
motivation to
run after the bikeman.
He ran so fast like a gala seller
chasing after
a driver who refused to pay him.
“Thief!! thief!! He shouted while
running
after the bike. The bikeman
looked back to
see the guy chasing him but
before he could
concentrate on riding his bike, a
driver ran
into him.
He fell down and the
Benzodiazepine fell
from his hand.
He quickly got up and ran for his
life.
Nobody wants to be lynched by
an angry
mob.
Dr. Amos quickly ran and picked
up the
Benzodiazepine, he ignored the
staring eyes
and continued his journey.
By the time he got to his office,
he had only
2hours left.
He went straight to the lab and
started the
preparation of the antidote. Now
that was
the tricky part. The antidote was
supposed
to be greenish in colour but all
the test were
giving him blue. He looked at his
wrist
watch and he was left with
30minutes. He
looked at the Benzodiazepine, it
was getting
empty. He read the text message
Again and
he saw what he got wrong. The
Benzodiazepine was supposed
to be added
in only two drops but he was
busy pouring
it.
He followed the instruction and
got a
‘bluish-green’ colour. ”
“This should be it” he said and
ran back to
grace. He injected her the
antidote and
nothing happened.
“I guess i just have to wait” he
said.
