That's not true. You have to consistently perform extraordinarily well in most of the games. Ribery had been a good performer, but he wasn't extraordinary. Remember Messi won those Ballon d'Or awards based on how extraordinary he was in most of the games. Games in particular against RM, all the hat tricks he scored then, his role in Arsenal routing and the CL final performance against United, those games you'd remember because of Messi's magical performances. For me, this year, Ronaldo and Neuer have been the most consistent players. But for GKs it is always too hard to win the award due to reasons unknown so I guess it's again Ronaldo. |
