And as you do me a favor, putting me 2nd in the table, I do you a favor. Tpday I served out one of my traditional batterings and injured your next opponent's first choice RF and LF. Congrats to you both. Looks like you two (top four) have put some real distance between yourselves and the rest of the group. ...and Si....you really do have some serious leg breakers in your team. Can I use them for a few select games...say maybe against 1st, 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th in my group? ![]() Ha, sure! I shall suggest on the forum that we should have loans of just 2 weeks! At some point, do I have to accept that my guys do cause more injuries than normal, or is it just a quirk in the nature of randomness? I don't know...given the sim, I would say a quirk but there is part of me that wants to figure out why....and replicate lol In the PL we can probably chalk part of it up to 0 effort as there seems an unproven anecdotal correlation (is that enough equivocation?) between injury and low effort but as to the league....no idea. That said, I didn't look at his players stamina or anything, which by the way is another unproven anecdotal correlation (low stamina = more injuries) but I have seen so much of it doing team resets that I consider it an answer. As for FC Kylle, I just figure they have some shared DNA with Razor Ruddick and Vinne Jones. ![]() Could be a lot of this is pretty close to the reason. My opponent today had lower stamina than me, also a reason I've heard before, that a disparity in stamina is bad news for the weaker team, or that a disparity in effort is bad for the one not trying so hard. A lot of it would make sense in theory, but there's no proof of any of this, of course! In the PL, we all play 0% so we'd expect the spread of injuries to be even regardless of whether low effort does or doesn't cause them. I'm thinking my team have been an anomaly in that respect, part of which could be just pure luck (or misfortune, depending on how we look at it), and part of which could be down to something uinque about my team causing a higher likelihood of injuries. So far this season, in competitive games only, I've handed out 10 injuries and received 5 in return. 6 of these inured opposition 10 were forwards, 3 were mids and 1 was a defender. Any player in the game can tackle, and many non-defensive players have good ball-steal stats, so this is unusual if it's entirely random, and makes me suspect that these injuries are being caused by my defensive players. On the other hand, forwards also run with the ball more than other positions, rather than passing to the next sucker, so there could be limitations there. To paraphrase from the terrible translations in the help section relating to skills, it says the sliding tackle skill causes more fouls. Fouls are not equal to injuries, but there may be something in there, that an injury occurs every X foul. We know injuries only occur with fouls, not through other means, so perhaps there's something there. If this season's competitive games were decided on fouls commited rather than goals scored, I'd have won 17 games and lost 11, with 3 draws. That's also quite telling. So what do I do that's different? Well, I like experienced players, and I value the slide tackle skill - which, as we know, creates more fouls. If I like experienced players more than most, mine have more skills than most, on the whole, so there could be an explanation there. Also, I train defense. Aggressiveness is an attribute I value in my defenders, so I thought I'd take a look at the top sides in my group and your side, @vgates, to see your forwards, the forwards of a good side, and those most likely to face my bruisers. We'd expect them to be well-trained, and for their stat breakdown to display similarities, and indeed they do. The most aggressive forward of those sides I checked is a 91 avg CF belonging to Miralay, with an aggressiveness score of 73. It doesn't seem to be something top forward trainers value over other attributes. The average aggressiveness today of my back 5 and one RDF sub was 93, with the highest being with those I've trained for at least 3 seasons. This might come into play, too. My defense is among the best in the league and PL, so I might expect to see that my defense also have among the highest aggressiveness stats. The way I play probably has something to do wth it. I'm not going to go into my tactics setup today, but I'd guess that if my players were too far away from the opposition's attackers I wouldn't get many tackles or fouls in. I reckon the defensive slider and advanced formation positioning are also accountable for putting my guys in the right/wrong place at the right/wrong time. Looking at this, it does seem my players are more likely to injure than others, perhaps in part due to aggressiveness and skills setup. It's not something I should be expected to change, and there is little proof of any of it, but it does look like an advance visit to the doctor is the best preparation for a game against me!
