It's not like I aimed to be beaten, Ali, hence playing my top team. I just got beaten by a manager who was prepared to sacrifice more than I was. My philosophy, and it has worked well for me, is that the season is a long game. Sure, the lower division teams and promotion no-hopers might see this as a bad thing, but they will soon find out it's not so easy when it's their team faced with those decisions. On the other hand, I tried to win today and did not manage it. Fortunately, in hindsight, I was unlikely to win anyway knowing what the other manager had invested in the game. Even then, I ran them agonizingly close. Edited by sicox86 03-04-2014 21:35 |

I knew I would be in a battle for promotion to Div 4 between 2 relegated Div 4 teams. I had some favorable opponents in the cup, one lucky win, and went through to round 6. But I wasn't going to sacrifice my first team's stamina. To me, because of the sim, winning the cup isn't a reality unless you are in Div 1 or 2. So I view it as a revenue generator. Can I get far enough to get to a div 1 or 2 opponent at their home? If not, I'm not sacrificing my best team. |

I kind of see today's game in the same way I look at a player on auction. I made a sensible bid today, and lost to a winner who, in my mind, paid over the odds. I will have to find success in other ways. | 03/04/2014 22:49 |

I will have to find success in other ways. We have a similar view. For me the bid today was how hard to play/first or second team in order to get $10m on Tuesday when I play Ubuntu. My bid of playing my second team @ 50% paid off this time. |

@vgates-- Ali is just giving you a brother-hope, he is 97% sure you cannot stand Ubuntu's B team on 30%efft, even 20%. Against Ubuntu, your only gain is the revenue n it'll be a hopeless gamble to play your best legs in situ of an unrealistic magic(i promise you injury to 5 of those if you try that) so as to focus on promotion, i use the SC as a fitness match for my benchwarmers, i'd have been so glad if i was paired a div 1 or 2 team in the round 1, buh, they keep giving me lower div team whch i expect to end soon cos my defenders wil have to play seven times as there is no replacement at that end.... Vgates, if you get beaten whch i expect, dont end up conceding double figures. Do good bro |

After yesterday's cup disappointment, FC Kylle had a point to prove today, and a 8-2 thrashing of last season's 5th-placed team was nothing if not a statement of intent. Chritopher "Berbatov" Schneider smashed in 5 goals to bring his season tally up to 12. The sometimes brilliant, sometimes absent striker scored 41 league goals last season in FC Kylle's failed first season in Div 3, and although often a beacon of hope in an otherwise forgettable season, the experienced German was sometimes found lacking in fight in easier games. Schneider's form has almost single-handedly pushed FC Kylle into a very respectable 3rd place at this early stage this season, and averaging a goal every half hour, if Schneider maintains this pace, FC Kylle will no doubt be real contenders for promotion. Lost my first league game today to an opponent I think I should have beaten. Anyone willing, please take a look and offer some suggestions. http://en.strikermanager.com/partido.php?id=15029970 I watched his prior games and because of his inverted xmas tree formation, decided to play very wide on the wings. My CF did not score a goal. Maybe I should have played more balanced? Also, he uses a very high offside trap so I pulled back the off slider but still had 6 offsides. He also plays VERY far forward but I was concerned about using a very high offside trap since he has some speedy players. That may have been a mistake as all his goals were scored by his RF who has a speed of 74. I had the def slider set on the lowest green line. Perhaps should have played high OT with him? Looking at the stats only, I should have won the game but looking at the goals scored, they all came after my subs were put on in 60th min. Any feedback welcome.... |

Hi Mr Gates, I have just had a chance to watch the game. I wrote loads here, and deleted it all as I wanted to start again! You were against good defensive tactics. They got back quickly to stomp out wide attacks. They moved quickly to render you offside when the ball is in the center, and filled the center horizontally X-X-X-X just in front of your CF. I don't think these tactics are their own creation, if it helps any. They were suspiciously good at dealing with both wide attacks and CF threats. We play a very similar attack setup so if they were a similar avg to me I would also have struggled. I also would have set up to wide attack, and I think you were right to do so. They hardly had any of the attacking play, and got a little fortunate in front of goal, firstly considering how few shots they had, and secondly they all came from situations mostly outside of your control. 1st goal was just after a free kick when your players are set up in an abnormal way, and their 2nd and 3rd goals were from defensive mixups and 50/50s that went against you. You were so unfortunate in the first 75mins and so dominant in the final 15 that you still could have got it all back. You hit the post 3 times I think, and lost eventually by a 1-goal margin. Their DFM was a superstar, cutting your wide attacks off so many times. Your forwards were just a tiny bit too far forward. More slider next time, I can say that with certainty. The positions in which you were deemed offside were their most vulnerable. You could have played a higher line, but I am not sure that would have helped you so much. Sorry I can't be more insightful. They had better tactics in defense, counter attacked, and had a huge helping of luck in front of goal. I wouldn't do too many slash and burn tactical changes off the back of this game, I'd instead chalk it up to a bad day at the office. |

OMG!!! What is the essence of ball possession in a lost match? His Wingers were constant threat and they got a goal apiece... Bad one for my team. | 05/04/2014 15:58 |
