retiring a player is a tricky job.
technically, he needs to be 30yrs of age and have enough points to retire. The posts above have told you how to see the points.. hint: "awards'

But the process of retiring is even trickier. Once the player is technically eligible to retire; you should call him in your office, make him sit on a plush chair and offer him some Earl Grey. I have found Earl Grey helps to sooth nerves. Of course you can offer whatever you fancy.
Now make sure you explain to him why you are retiring him. Be direct, they usually know when they are past their prime. Tell him that after three seasons, he is welcome to join the support staff and also show him you Hall Of frame, where his photograph will be permanently affixed.

Goodluck. Its a better job then firing someone for sure. Make sure you have a send off party.

Totally agree. Retiring a player could be hard the first time but you'll later get used to doing it without getting emotionally envolved...
