Greater availability of 85+ players has increased supply and thus decreasing demand and people are not as interested in spending big money for juniors since the server will slowly die when the new one opens, 31/01/2014 16:05

for 5 seasons now the acitve managers been going down

the stats tells us that there are 5k managers - 5 seasons ago there were 12k users - this is still a flat out lie - no way are there 5k managers at mo - the devs purposely keep these false stats so people wont leave a failing game ( no one want to invest time in a game that is closing or especially money)
But as this game is only here to make money we continue to be lied to

divs 1- 3 are 99% full of active managers - so the market for these players (85ave +) is good - ok

div 4 is about 30% active

divs 5 - 6 u will be lucky to have another human manager in your league ;(

its simple supply and demand - players below 85% - there is massive supply and no demand

*in the mid 17th century Holland there was crazy demand for Tulips!! - 1 rare bulb could be worth more than a substantial house!
u could say speculators ruined a good market in Holland by hoarding and raising the prices artificially.

Much in the same way Striker Manager has been ruined by all our best managers doing too well - also artificially increasing prices, there was a tipping point when i joined when it became impossible for new managers to compete. Thus without the new managers ***the market is bottoming out***

however, dont lose heart sm 2 is starting soon and we can break that game too lol

its why i love these games - its a massive social / economic simulator and the results over all are very interesting / hard to predict

Agreed wiv, I'd imagine it's a hard game to jump into when you see all these teams at 90+ average and you're sitting there with a 30 av team. I think games like this will always die, because eventually the big teams get bored, the high average players aren't really a premium anymore, and as such things slowly die. A new game will be refreshing, but it'll fall into the same cycle.

I think there could be more long term interest/interest from new people in the game if training was a little slower and things were more volatile, meaning players FC's could randomly take a dip or something along those lines.

Eventually. It won't be for a while, but with the new striker manager coming out I'd give it 3-4 seasons after that is in full swing and then it'd close.

This all depends on the new gane also, it could be a total flop,

weliv is correct, however, there is an additional variable...for players in the mid 60's overall average there is an expectation of div 3/4 managers that they can continue to price players above there relative worth because of an assumption that lower div managers can afford it. We cannot afford it because we cannot farm fast enough and at least in my experience I can't hostile players because I am always beat to the hostile button. If I don't have the cash to spend, I can't buy from you.

[This is the RL example of income inequality and a consumption driven economy but there is a credit limit in SM that hasn't existed in RL...no cash, no credit= no consumption = your sellers market crashes]

I have been looking for a CF for nearly two weeks. I cannot find a CF with good attributes that is reasonably priced. I have a CF 62/21 with shot of 75 and speed of 64. I paid $2m when the player was 55 and trained him. (I train all positions in senior)

Similar transfers range $8m to $20m, excluding outliers. Two weeks of searching several times a day in the market and nearly every CF that is one or two percent higher in avg speed is priced well over $30m.

e.g. CF 68/20 shot 80 speed 66...price = $69m starting bid

Why would I pay that for the small percent increase? I'll save the money train my player and buy a player in the 70's range for $100m

There is a bubble in the middle where prices are higher than managers can afford. Welcome to the SM version of the eroding middle class.
