There are several difference between Messi and Ronaldo. First, Messi was recruited to Barca as a child and has played with them his entire career. Ronaldo was brought to Real Madrid for money - specifically what they thought they could and did make of off his name, hence CR7, the same as they did with Beckham (N.B. Madrid will lose money on Bale). But Ronaldo has never had the mental game that Messi has. You often see him in a depressed mood, similar to Landon Donovan. Contrast that with Messi who is always smiling, even when he errs. All opinions should be considered. But what we should not allow is FIFA manipulating information to favour their favourite teams/players (Remember Champions League Chelsea-Barcelona, 4 penalties) If they show that attitude in public, what they do not do in private? No other player in the world in 2013 can be compared with CR7, however FIFA is damaging as long as they can. I'm certainly not going to defend FIFA, however, Ronaldo not having more ballon d'or's doesn't mean that there is a FIFA conspiracy against him. Perhaps Messi was just the better player those years. I cannot see how anyone can argue that he was not worthy of the ballon the year he broke the record of most goals scored in a season. The Red Fury said: All opinions should be considered. It is all about opinions, I deeply respect 100% people who think Messi worth those 4 golden ball and CR7 just one, so I do not discuss this point, from my point of view Messi is simply fantastic. It is all about Fifa and the unfair treatment and manipulation of data, media, referees, polls, etc to favour selected players, teams and private businesses in a careless corruption way. At the end, between Platini , Blatter and several other sharks executives of Barcelona into the corporations who control the football all over the world is lacking of the necessary credibility. I find the Barecelona reference a bit odd considering Real Madrid is the truest form of corporate football. They are the richest team in the world, they bought both Beckham and Ronaldo for their ability to sell merchandise, and require their players to give as much as 40% of their endorsement/royalty earnings to the team. I have been told that Barca is considered the working man's team and Real Madrid the rich man's team. Love Real as much as you want, hate Barca as much as you want, but please don't think Real Madrid are some saintlike football martyrs. Considering Barcelona a poor club is an absolute mistake. They are a lot more powerful than Real Madrid by far, maybe there is some information you need to know, per example the UEFA is integrated by 2 ex-Presidents of Barcelona and Villar, the President of the Spanish Federation who is a fanatic of Barcelona. Another example is Senes Erzik, Unicef Projects Boss, we all remember Unicef as sponsor of Barcelona. Ask yourself why the favourite Club for FIFA and UEFA is Barcelona and the World Cup is for Qatar. A World Cup in Qatar in winter? Fantastic  Real Madrid can be despised because is the richest team in the world? Then we need new rules in football. CR7 and Real Madrid being despised is not opinion, but facts. Everybody can see the news and the videos. If you agree the way of discrimination then we can not go through further points and this behavior favors the existence of corrupt organizations. No one is surprised by the absence of resignations for unacceptable corruption, the scam of the votes, the Qatar World Cup, the sold referees at the World Cup's...This is the Fair Play and the football we all want for the future? |

World greatest footballers on 21st century and maybe the two best players ever but certainly the best rivalry in sport of football. Messi who win the FIFA Ballor O dor award couple of months ago had the record breaking calendar year 2012. he broke all kinds of records in process of scoring more goals in 1 year than another player in the history, he beat the record set by German player Gerrd Mullur who scored 86 goals in one year but Messi went on to score 91 and its hard to think anybody apart from himself or Ronaldo to break this record anytime soon. When he puts on a Argentina shirt he can not perform they way he does at Barcelona. So we have to say that Messi is a better team players than Ronaldo. Who is a better player ? Lionel Messi Cristiano Ronaldo VOTE View Results Cristiano Ronaldo: Ronaldo since his Manchester United days has been labeled as a bit selfish player, some expert would say well thats they way he plays but he often get into confrontations with team mates as it has happened in the past. With Ruud Van Nistelrooy in Manchester United and as the reports suggest in Spain that he dont get along very well with his spanish team mates in Real Madrid. He often shoot from insane angles sometimes it goes in but often he will leave his unmarked team mate in better position left unhappy. having said that thats the way he plays and if being selfish will get any manager half the goals he scores in a season they would love to have a player like Ronaldo. Good thing is Ronaldo and Messi are playing in the same era, for two of the biggest rivals in football Real Madrid and Barcelona and we see go head to head 3-4 times in a season. last year Ronaldo helped his team to win the La liga title while Barcelona could only win Copa Del rey. Messi have won 4 back to back FIFA Ballon O Dor awards but that does not mean he is head and shoulders ahead of Ronaldo. Conclusion: Who is better ? Ronaldo or Messi ? Well thats the question on everybodys lips in last few seasons, from experts on TV, in football news and kids playing in play ground. But its hard to tell before their career finishes.
