I am getting really annoyed with offside penalties....how do you prevent that?! I know it has something to do with tactics and moving the lines for forwards/mid/def. I am just not getting it though...HELP!! 24/05/2013 21:56

You need to use advanced formations. It is more important that the tactics bars. 24/05/2013 22:15

While I am far from an expert in having the 'perfect' setup, if you know the offside rule, then you'll know it has two points relevant to your advanced formation.

1) The receiving player is always onside if he is in his own half at the time the ball is passed, no matter how many forum posts you read to the contrary.

2) The receiving player is always onside, regardless of last defenders, if he is in line with or behind the ball at the time the ball is passed.

Both of these elements can be worked into an advanced formation. The sliders in the tactics tab regulate how much further forward or behind you want each row of players to be from their advanced formation positions.

just imagine u are setting up tactics for a rugby game when attcking
defending just set it up as the inverse to your attack

go to the extreme in both and u will be suprised with results

Get faster defenders...and don't hijack other peoples threads.

u cant if as i do u attack as i do in increments slowly behind or (maybe 2 players level with the ball) , the exception being keeping 1 up above half way even when u deep defending as they rarely receive direct ball so they cause more opps leaving 1 up than offsides he will cause

so when coming up vs savvy offside attacking teams here u can only tough it out relying on players skill

*unless u r sure they play extremely careful attack then some people pull their defense right back = can be hard for tactics like mine to break down

It's relevant to the topic and therefore not considered a hijack in most forums.

It contributes to the discussion and adds value for the users....stop being yet another power hungry mod

back on topic: playing man to man with fast defenders seems to help
