-1 from me. It's hard enough finding people to loan players too without having to stiff them with massive salaries as well. No deal. 12/04/2013 07:15

I kind of agree with this actually.

I always borrow my forwards instead of paying the prohibitively high prices, but it is a bit of an exploit. Why should a borrowing manager benefit from not having to buy key players plus not paying market rate salaries? It really just benefits managers like me who are willing to search out solid loan agreements, and significantly disadvantages managers who can't or won't do that leg work.

So I don't see anything wrong with a rule that says, if you're already avoiding buying expensive players, but benefiting from their average and skills anyway, at least pay the players' true salaries for 12 weeks.

But right there you're losing out. You've chosen to not invest in forwards and instead train and use forwards owned by others. So your training won't benefit many of your players and it mostly helps out players that you don't own.The low salary benefits you in the short term, but in the long term, you made an opponents player better. So really the pay off is about even.

To me a bonus of making a good relationship with someone is having them willing to set a players salary dirt cheap for you. If I don't know someone well enough I'm not gonna lower a salary much for them.

Instead of defending what many agree is your absurd position, you reply with the above, proving all the more that your position is indefensible.

Also, I agree fully w/@illex (he's a great trainer btw). I'd go even further and say that if the loaned player is a good player, it can help the loanee moreso - a promotion push or win a few more games and achieve the per game sponsor bonus and/or the season-end sponsor bonus etc.

Eh, an 'opponent' a division or two above me? Not much of an urgent competitive concern there.

Buddy, if you want to continue pushing for the war of words on the internet you've been angling for, I'm happy to engage. But if you're staking your internet food fight on the quality of your 'position,' your argument, you're gonna have a rough go of it.

Now if you wanna discuss the merits of the OPs suggestion respectfully, turn down the heat and pretend you've got some decent home training, and I'll be happy to address your points and mine directly.

Where to begin.

Your first point to @illex is incredibly shortsighted if you play competitively and want to move to higher divisions (not to mention the loan player could be sold to a direct opponent in your division...which has occurred and will continue to occur). So your logic doesn't hold up if you are a "serious" player. Planning for the future and acquiring players that are useful for higher divisions is important.

Now if you are not in the game for the long-term, or are content with staying at a certain division, then it's fine. No criticism there. Certain people play the game for different reasons, and have different views of what "fun" means in this game. Again, certain people want to play differently, and that's cool by me - far be it for me to tell people how to have fun with this game.

There is no war of words, ace, unless you're starting one. I'd hate to see this thread locked because you didn't read my post at the bottom of page 1 refuting both the initial post and yours. Go read or re-read that. I explicitly stated a primary reason why it is a really bad idea. There are others that can be listed also, which @prac stated.

Your 2nd to last paragraph is junk. My position is logical. I'd love to hear you refute it. Or at least try, which has yet to be done. Engaging in a healthy debate regarding a wholesale change of how the loan process works of course requires staking a position. I stated the initial post is a terrible idea and gave a compelling answer. You've done nothing to refute that.

Your last paragraph proves that you didn't bother to read why I am against the initial post and your position. As are two respected members of the SM community - @prac and @illex (I don't include myself because I'm nothing but a belligerernt arrogant 'merican. hahaha).

You are incorrect, there is one respected member of the SM community, @prac, and two belligerernt arrogant 'mericans in this thread.

and Anonymous, all that ABC has done is written well thought out responses to your statement, and all you've done is respond negatively to him. I'm all about a good healthy debate as that's often where the best ideas come from, but I'm not going to stand for it if you're just going to come at people in this thread with attacks towards them.

You have a serious reading comprehension problem. But you and the idiot above you can knock yourselves out.

This kind of speech has no place in the forums. Make an argument, or make yourself scarce, but don't sling unwarranted insults at respected members of the SM community.

And with that, I close.
