As the 80th minute crept up, Legia Warszawa was looking for the equalizing goal. The team, which was promoted mid-season (early February) had slowly built their way up from 20th place and 1 point to 12th place before the last round. Needing a tie/win to stay in division 3 things were not looking too well. The 13th place team was up big 5-2 and everything looked as if they were going to be the lucky 12th place team. Already behind, Legia had other issues to worry about. Their best, most explosive player (82 avg LW) had gotten a red card early in the game for elbowing a referee and the team looked depleted. Thankfully for Legia, manager Legiapolska didn't build his tactics around one player. One man is forced to walk of the field, the other 10 will have to step their game up. That is exactly what happened. As the end of the game was creeping up, and the fans of Legia Warszawa that took the long trip to the U.S. from Warsaw were leaving the stadium, Lance Stanton (81 avg LIM) left off were he had started a few weeks back, with the game sealing goal. This time it wasn't game sealing but season saving one. With just a mere 2 minutes from relegation, an ambitious Legia team scored the game tying goal to stay in division 3 for at least another season. Manager Legiapolska spoke after the game with our reporter and was asked about what he told his players at halftime already down by a goal and without their best player. His answer was rather simple, "Just do your job!" Just Do Your Job....... and they did, Legia will be in division 3 after a very memorable season as they upset quite a few teams on the way. The 13 th place team that was 2 minutes away from staying in division 3, didn't deserve it anyways as said by Legiapolska when asked about the team that will have to go back to division 4. Lets not lie, the 13th place team was promoted to division 3 in the last week of February and only won one or two games in the time while starting off in 10th place. They got 4 points during the whole month of March while Legia got almost 10. Legia- the underdog is out there to shock more minds next season, best of luck to them and all underdogs!
