It would probably be safer/better to have a auction house or a forum where you could post your players to...Oh wait....we already have that!! Haha, in all seriousness, I don't think getting spammed with player mail would be fun at all, or effective in the long term. There is research (believe me, I work at a company that makes digital marketing software) that suggests that once a person receives a message that is not productive for them(among other things), their level of engagement (how likely they are to read it) goes down precipitously. Once people start getting irrelevant messages, they will turn off this feature or just stop looking at the messages. This will then result in tons of additional messages that the servers need to send and store. Sooooooo....while it was a good thought I think in practice this might not be a net gain for the game.

There are forums and such to find and sell players. It's all about the market, and if someone wants to buy they will look! If you want to do more to market yourself, try to get on general and make friends with people and put out your feelers and post in the forums.

Letting messages into the inbox would just result in people not checking them, unfortunately. =\
