It would be great to have an option of defensive or offensive when setting up advanced formations.

EG: You have an IM, for defense you could set them to go closer to the D line and assist covering the middle of the field. But when if you recover, they could move ahead to the mid-line and be available for a pass.

Look at the example again.
If I'm on D, I want my IM closer to the D line. If I'm on offense, I want him closer to the mid-line. If I set him close to the ball when it's on the back line, that is good for D, but not so good for when my defender has the ball in that same position.

Does that help?

In the advanced formation, you can put the players wherever you want according to where the ball is. Also, like kkii said... in the tactics part, you can move the Defensive, Midfield, and Offensive lines too 18/01/2013 21:46

As bad as the passing can be in the sim, the ball changes possession so often that your players would be running around out if position for a good portion of the game. 18/01/2013 23:27

This is definitely the best feedback so far. Thanks sabrefan!

I'm surprised the rest of you guys don't see the benefit of my idea though. Sabrefan has already addressed this, so no more discussion needed, but just to clarify...

Yes, you can position guys based on where the ball is. Yes you can adjust where they are with the red, yellow and green lines. I do all of that (and probably poorly! haha). However, if my CDF has the ball in the middle of the field in front of my box, I don't want my IM right on top of him, I want them far enough away to make a pass. That said, if my opponents CF has the ball in the middle of the field in front of my box, I want the IM chasing him down! To me, this is common sense. Maybe you guys don't haven't noticed this in your sims?

So far, from my observations, I can get the IM to chase the CF, but if the defender recovers he stays too close. That is what this would correct. amiright?!!? (note: I could totally be wrong. If so, enlighten me!!! How do you position your midfielders/backs?)

Thanks for the feedback erryone!!! Very helpful!
