There's a post in doubts and suggestions with a similar title that made me think of this. For invite-only private leagues, teams should be able to request entry by clicking a 'Request Entry' button, just like we click the 'join' button (or whatever it's called) for open leagues. So that instead of sending PMs or posting in the PL forum asking for an invite, a team would be able to join the Pending cue immediately, and the PL manager would be able to approve any of the applicant teams in the cue. For clarity, the cue would be unlimited -- that means any number of teams could apply or be invited to join any invite-only private league. And teams could apply to join as many as they'd like at once. Teams would be removed from a PL's Pending cue only once they're accepted into that private league or another one, or removed from the Pending cue by the PL manager. When a PL starts, especially at the start of a season, there're always those hectic couple days when the PL manager frantically contacts everyone who committed and has been invited, hoping they'll, 1, remember and keep their commitment, and 2, sign in before the start of the PL and accept the invite, so there're no empty slots in the schedule, depriving one or more teams of opportunities to get on the board. The benefit of this solution is that it allows teams requesting membership to join the Pending list immediately, and it allows PL managers to accept applicants as replacements for MIA or declined teams at their leisure, including right away. Right now, the PL managers are forced to choose between leaving one or more teams with fewer games played and points on the board, or leaving the spot empty to keep the table even, but depriving the PL of the empty slot's registration fee, if any.
