OM's as forwards? ... does anyone uses them as their main strikers?
best forwards in my opinion are CF's if well trained...they score more than anyone else.
I use wingers up the front though, and I even was top scorer with one of them last season (wingers are rarely top scorers) but I only use them because they are the cheapest and I am poor...and some of them are well trained actually.

MVP of the game
Love my LF/RF combination. My players are well trained but I'm gonna have to agree with patient, it seems that CFs score more goals in this sim.

Still I like the interplay between the forwards, so I chose the 2 striker combo. It reminds me of Andy Cole and Dwight Yorke when they clicked so well for United.

any can be effective, as long as someone hasn't wasted half their prog on the leadership stat

Yes, I noticed the high statistic of leadership of LF/RF, which didn't make much influence on the ground but making a big influence on their prices. 27/11/2012 12:15

imo you should avoid players with high leadership. it's easy to train up the stat so some managers use it to boost their players avg. 27/11/2012 12:54

I use an OM pretty effectively with an LF and RF. My OM's average is like 75 but he consistantly plays at an 85 or so in-game average. Not bad. (Not great either, but not bad)

I think leadership for LF and RF can help. I think average plays a part in how well players play in-game. That being said, like others noted, its usually best to avoid mid or high average LF/RF that have high leadership but low overall stats (passing, shot, dribble, speed, technique especially, etc).

I have two forwards with almost the same shot, dribbling, and speed but one is 59 average with low leadership and the other is 66 average with higher leadership.

They both score a fair amount, but since I bought the 66 average guy a few weeks ago he's scored more and played slightly better than the other guy, so I think the overall average does play at least some part in their performance.

Like others said though, watch out for leadership. When I was looking for forwards I saw a lot of players who had decent averages but had crappy shot and/or speed but crazy high leadership.

Golden Ball
I used to be pretty effective with lw/rw. Although in reality isued 2lw and 2rw, swapping them them over on 60 mins. It tended to be the second pair that broke defenses when the defenders were tired. They didnt seem to score as often as a cf, but made up for it with the number of chances they made. Plus they were much easier to train in passing, meaning they could pass to each other, something thats hard to do with cf's.

For an added bonus they were easy to train in tackling, although aggression was near imposiible to get up. But that one time where I watched my rw tackle an om, then a dfm, then a cdf, then slot the ball into the net was an amazing feeling.

I think i may have an idea of why they werent scoring as much now. But it'll be a few season before i can test out my theories.

I prefer wingers because they are, as Grantis said, more versatiles: they can learn passing, shooting, they are fast and can take free kicks with a reasonable success rate. More, if it is true that leadership allows them to acquire more experience, they can gain a lot of useful skills to reinforce strong points or to help their weak stats. In one word, they seem to me complete. But, and for my personal experience this is a fact, they create a lot of scoring chances but seem to have difficult in scoring goals, despite having good shooting stats. 27/11/2012 17:49
