Despite the fact that I have enjoyed my time playing your game and yes, even given you a considerable sum of money while playing it, I regret to say that I no longer wish to inflict this level of annoyance and frustration upon myself. I don't mean a general, competitive sort of frustration that one feels when victory is snatched at the last moment, or when your striker for some unknown reason fails to hit a single shot on target for an entire game. I am of course talking about the bugs. Yes, those bugs that you fail to address in the game itself. The ones that allow teams to play their entire squad in the opposing half. The ones that mean the game no longer resembles football in the slightest and instead starts to look like some sort of weird defensive sort of strategy game where whoever can bunny-hop or wall-hack the hardest wins. That's not fun. That's asperger's level OCD nonsense and I don't care for it. Needless to say, I won't be paying any more money to you whatsoever and I encourage others to do the same until the game starts to resemble what it purports to be - a football management simulator. The offside nonsense is getting worse and more and more people are doing it which is effectively ruining the entire game. Please do the sensible thing and address this now.

P.S. The people who say "but you can just alter your tactics when you play against people who use it" are missing the point entirely and are as much a part of the problem as the bug itself.

mods nor fiscals get your money.

But the offside problem has been around for more than a year in some form or fashion, and the devs have said this is one of the most difficult aspects of the game to correct, so I would not hold out hope for it to be fixed soon.

I don't know the status of the beta, since i don't play it due to my cup participation....but the OT can be beat. Take a look at the top div 1 defenses and you will see that they don't run a super-aggressive offside trap. So it is NOT the best defense out there, but is effective, and can be beaten.

It is easy to implement in advanced tactics, but can be defeated in a straightforward manner by a savvy player who positions their forwards correctly and moves their tactics bars to the right spot.

I didn't renew pack manager this season and have not bought any gold balls out of frustration as well. Seeing how they just had to move everyone from Div 7 to Div 6 because there are so many sysbots and most people in Div 6 are complaining still about sysbots, I suspect new manager sign ups are way down or people abandoning their teams are way up. At some point it will become painful enough to fix or they will just stop updating the game altogether. Until then we just have to decide if its worth playing and/or spending money on. All in all its still a decent simulator, it can be easy to lose sight of that at times. 11/10/2012 06:48

I pay for GB so I can search for good players to train which I still find the most fun part of the game and the reason why I kept playing when I first started

We didn't even have a simulator back then.

My formation follows the following rule no matter wether my opponent uses the trap or not...
When the ball is in my own half, my strikers are in my own half as you can't get called offside in your half. When the ball is on the opponent's half I keep them behind the ball in advanced formation at any given time until they reach the box...
I have been doing this for the past 3 seasons and therefor do not have any issue with the offside trap. In fact I rather have my opponents use it than packing up the defense (something I see a lot in div2 haha).
Hopefully the next sim update actually fixes 1-2 issues (even is small) without adding more. That would be the way forward

MVP of the game
I used to do the offside trap tactics, but then i started to find that i was conceding way to many goals, even though at first it was great.

Now i use a low line of defense which is great at keeping clean sheets, against teams in my own division but superior teams can beat it and score, which is only because they have faster players.

Agree with everyone here, i dumped the OT in division 3' because it simply didnt work at all. In div 2 or 1 youd get totally killed using it.

As patient said just keep everyone in line with the ball in advanced formation and you'll never experience it again. Use a couple of fast wingers and you'll rip the OT to shreds.

Its the one thing that will probably never get fixed properly simply because you set your formation and tactic and cant really change anything much during a game. Unless the game switches to live changes during a match, i think it's probably impossible to fix.

If this happened my early morning games would be a write off

You're all missing the point. Why should we have to account for the bunny hoppers and the wall hackers? Why should we have to compensate for those who take advantage of a gameplay flaw? Surely the solution is to eliminate it, rather than have to accommodate it? 11/10/2012 23:48

I don't get the first question.

The answer is, adapt or die.

The road is littered with the bodies... I mean teams of those who stand on principle.

Look at my 7 game league losing streak last season. I adapted, and I'm still division one.
