What's wrong with normal bids? I've won multiple auctions not reaching my maximum bid, in facts the only times people reach my max bid, they most likely outbid me. Although in some cases I've narrowly won with my max bids. I use those 2 bidding options like the price range I am willing to pay rather than an actual price to pay. I can bid on a player 15m and put max bid at 30m...and I can win the auction at 25m saving myself 5m but if I just put 30m and no one bids I "wasted" 5m...5m could pay my accessories instead haha. I don't understand why you would think the 2 things do exactly the same things and one should be removed. I don't get the actual problem here. |

I said that they do they same thing because you never really need to change the normal bid amount. It always defaults to the next bid above what is currently showing. You then set your max bid and that's the number that does all of the work. Therefore, the only number that really matters is the max bid. In fact, today was the only time I've ever changed the normal bid amount (which, again, was an accident), and it ended up costing me $2 million because it opened the bidding at $2 million higher than what the seller put as the opening price ($27 million vs. $25 million). The difference is you can set a starting bid for the auction yourself. In your system, your next bid will always be 10K higher than the previous bid. With this system, I can start an auction at 50 mil if I want to. This can be done for several reasons, but from a poker playing perspective, a higher first bet may scare off the stragglers who aren't really serious. The accident you had is in fact the reason the current system exists - to allow a higher first bid. |

Also, you're not the only one to have an accident like that. It's happened to me a couple of times too, and yes, it's very annoying | 08/10/2012 03:44 |
