Others have said it and I'll agree - the Stadium is good to ensure the weekly expenses are paid. Having to rely on selling players to meet weekly expenses seems risky. But to make big money I think selling players is the way to go. Like a jr farm. Or finding high progression jrs & selling them, or selling jr school players etc.

A short synopsis but I think an accurate one.

Find players on auction who are slightly under-valued due to morale or being sold off-peak, and sell for profit.

Yes this is a must when you start but it takes a lottt of your time, but the reward can be big, my biggest at the time, a RIM (22y old i think to remember) average 49 but 0 motivation, bought for..... 90k!

This game is all about balancing your finances while finding ways of increasing your overall money supply.

great thread.

trading senior players via cheap hostiles & under-motivated players works really well when you are starting out as your income is so much lower. a quick few extra mil can really help. then as your team gets stronger you naturally end up hanging on to the high prog ones you've picked up & can start making proper money by adding 10pts to their avg.

most managers are going to struggle to find / afford high prog juniors to begin with. i reckon a good tip would be to choose an unpopular position (like mids or rb/lb) & buy a bunch of 65-75 prog junior players. you can pick them up for next to nothing so they should be pretty much free money. then upgrade to higher prog juniors as you progress.

Exactly what I did...I got a bunch of 72-78 FC mids from the market for free and trained them every day. By the time I sold/promoted them, their FCs were at or above 80.

i recently joined the brazil server and found myself starting from the ground up. What i have found may prove another valuable route to success as well as some other suggestions presented here. i have completely ignored (for the most part) my senior squad. They are winning the group all on their own, even though they really aren't that good, however they are equal to the other teams, so it's not a problem. What i have done instead, is buy high"ish" progression juniors - specifically some young and some 18 year olds. Now, what good is an 80 prog jr at 18 if he's 20 avg? Not a whole lot if you're in division 3 or 4, but to a division 6, that's gold. He will be 19 (and promoteable) next season, and if you begin training immediately, he will reach senior squad average in no time, and be a starter. This is a cheap and effective way to find good progression players for your senior squad without busting your minimal budget as a new manager. 12/09/2012 04:14

That's basically what I've done with Brazil as well LG. Save for one player in my senior squad, my junior defenders are better than everyone on my senior squad, yet I'm still sitting in 4th place in division 4 because everyone's senior squad is still kind of crappy. I didn't even thinking of picking up 18 year old decent progression players that could go to my senior squad next season.

I'd imagine with the amount of people here willing to unload 70-75 prog school players for next to nothing this strategy could work out real well for a division 6 team here.

yup - 71 prog winger in my junior squad. I can't even sell him with a 100k buy now. will have to sack him soon as i need the space

another tip i would give new managers - use every squad space you have. pick up medium-high prog seniors that have been overlooked. like 70-80 prog 35/22 cfs etc. You'll probably never use them in a match, but they can sit in your subs/reserves while they train up. flog them when their prog slows & repeat. it's another way of following lifeguard's suggestion i guess.

I'm not sure how many there are still around, but i've made heaps of money training & trading them.

Stadium is forever. Flipping a player is dependent on the market.

I do both. But it's worth noting, that i can afford both because i invested in my stadium. It's the excess revenue from guaranteed income less my expense that ensures i stay afloat with no pressure to buy and sell.

My buying and selling is all profit thanks to my stadium. None of it is to meet weekly expenses.
