I don't like the idea of buying directly from a school, but having a list of all juniors still in public schools that can be sorted by progression or by country would be very useful for finding specific players | 15/09/2012 16:55 |

i've had several people back out of deals after i promote a school junior and been left with promoted juniors whom are high prog, but cannot prove it. in most cases, i was approached about a sale because my schools are public and i would never have promoted the junior without being approached. key points: - people want to purchase juniors still in school to confirm their progression - most people keep their junior squad as full as possible to maximize training - sellers are penalized more than buyers if the buyer backs out of a deal. - there is moral hazard with regard to buyers and school juniors as there is no 'skin in the game' when it comes to negotiating a deal and asking a seller to promote his junior. for people that back out of deals after a junior has been promoted - either there needs to be punishment or allow people to be purchased directly from schools so managers just trying to do their job dont get tricked by dishonest managers who fail to complete a sale. have a 'SHOW ME THE MONEY' option, either establish a binding contract that a transfer agreement takes place on promotion, or some sort of formal promotion transfer. OR penalize people that lie about buying juniors. i have a list of about 4 people if you want. i think a progression search for schools is a separate conversation all together |

With the responses we have here, I think most of the users are up for this suggestion. this should get implemented in my opinion. |

If that's the case I only see more problems from the suggestion...People whining about the players not being worth that amount. Discussing the probability of low average before promotion would probably help a lot here. That's what I do when buying players still in schools. |

@patient said: They probably back out after seeing the starting average of the player (after he is promoted). i dont know why they back out. maybe average, maybe not. someone once told me all of a sudden he did not have the money and would try to get it to me soon but never did. most users know that the starting avg may be lower. most good managers know that when buying a high prog player, starting average doesn't matter all that much. regardless, and the more important issue is this: people are reneging on newly promoted school player contracts without any repercussion. again, key points: - current system only penalizes those that unwittingly promote juniors for lying potential buyers who back out of deals, leaving the sellers looking to sell the player they would have been happy to keep in their school - juniors in school with visible progression may be 'worth more' to a buyer as their progression is visible - most people keep their junior squad as full as possible to maximize training - sellers are penalized more than buyers if the buyer backs out of a deal. - there is moral hazard with regard to buyers and school juniors as there is no 'skin in the game' when it comes to negotiating a deal and asking a seller to promote his junior. i think any suggestions to remedy this problem is welcome. buying juniors directly from school to enter the buyers squad would avoid this problem. any mention of why people back out is irrelevant, and doesn't solve the problem because there is still no accountability for reneging on a deal that only penalizes the seller. an alternative is the ability to return a newly promoted player back to their school within 24 hours, but i would imagine this would be even less well received. |

Speaking only from my own experience, I've never had anyone back out after saying they will buy a player from one of my schools. But even if they did, I wouldn't care for these reasons: - If I keep a player in my school it's because I'm not training them, and progression is not high enough for me to find a good buyer. Any interest is welcome. - For me, a low prog player (<75) is not worth a lot. I will either promote to find out starting average, at which point I will either fire or auction depending on what it is, or if it's around the 75 mark I will Forecast him to see if I can sell that way. - If you own schools, it's foolish not to keep at least one free spot in your junior squad or you will never be able to promote anything. Your issue suggests the game is rife with players backing out on these deals and I'm not sure that it is, at least in my own experience. And as I said, even if people did do it to me, chances are the player they want to buy is either going to be fired (at a cost of ~$500) or sold if his average is reasonable. I don't see a problem here that needs to be solved, and there would be some problems that would arise out of it that would need to be thought through. Probably more trouble than it's worth, but not a completely bad idea |
