You upgraded 2 general to pro. Now upgrade 2 standing to general as we talked about. Your revenue will go sky high compared to before because you won't have 24,000 empty seats in standing

The only way to add new seats is to add new standing seats, which you do not want to do yet.

upgrade 2 standing to general at a cost of $3,850,000. Then you will have 60,000 total seats with

36,000 standing
12,000 general
12,000 pro

next you should do
30,000
18,000
12,000

by upgrading 1 standing

and then

24,000
18,000
18,000

by upgrading 1 standing and 1 general.

At this point you should be able to raise the $18,000,000 for your first VIP set. You won't want to get VIP seats until Div. 4, but you absolutely want a set of them by the beginning of Div. 3.

good. When it completes you will have the stadium seating distribution I described. Does this make sense to you? 13/08/2012 06:15

you have 48,000 standing seats

you upgrade 12,000 standing seats to general seats, so you subtract 12,000 standing seats (you converted them into general, it's not new general seats)

48,000-12,000 = 36,000 standing seats and 12,000 general.

Make sense now?

when you upgrade the stadium, each upgrade works automatically like so:

* add 6,000 standing seats
this increases the number of standing seats by 6,000

* add 6,000 general seats
this DECREASES the number of standing seats by 6,000
and INCREASES the number of general seats by 6,000
(automatically)

* add 6,000 pro seats
this DECREASES the number of general seats by 6,000
and INCREASES the number of pro seats by 6,000

* add 6,000 VIP seats
this DECREASES the number of pro seats by 6,000
and INCREASES the number of VIP seats by 6,000

so if you have this make-up:

36,000 standing
30,000 general
30,000 pro
30,000 VIP

and you want to get to

36,000 standing
36,000 general
36,000 pro
36,000 VIP

it seems you just need to add 6,000 general, 6,000 pro and 6,000 VIP and you're there. This is incorrect!

Surprisingly, you actually have to add:

18,000 standing
18,000 general
12,000 pro
6,000 VIP

this is because adding the 6,000 VIP doesn't create new VIP seats, it converts 6,000 existing pro seats, turning the number of pro seats into 24,000 pro (30,000 - 6,000), so you will need to add the 6,000 pro seats back just to get to 30,000, and then another 6,000 to get to 36,000. This same procedure means that those 12,000 new pro seats are subtracted from general, which makes it 18,000 general seats, and you'll need another 12,000 new general seats to get back to 30,000, and then another 6,000 to get to 36,000 general. Since subtracting 18,000 seats (12,000+6,000) from standing reduces it to 18,000 standing, you'll need to add another 18,000 to get the standing back to 36,000.

So, it's actually quite expensive to upgrade a stadium evenly, and the math is unintuitive and pretty complicated to get it right. No wonder you were confused!
