The Striker Cup is our most prestigious competition in Striker Manager - but once you're eliminated from it, you only have league, private league and friendlies. Perhaps it would be good for certain divisions to have their own cup competition, a la the Capital One Cup (League Cup) or the Johnston's Paint Trophy (Football League Trophy) in England where a certain subset of clubs are eligible to compete? As it stands now, Div 6 and 7 are grist for the mill in Striker Cup (and some Div 5 clubs as well)...what do they have to play for? It would be nice if a second cup competition was on offer to give those clubs something to play for. Just a thought. | 19/07/2012 17:40 |

I think the "side cup" would work perfect as function of the friendly system. Similar to private leagues you could set up a cup, pick how many teams you wanted for the cup, and it would run through X amount of friendly days. It would lock the dates of the cup games for every team in the cup (till they were eliminated) and at the end a champion would be crowned. You could do a cup as big or as small as you wanted, just so long as the season wasn't over when your cup was supposed to finish. This would be a great way to make friendlies somewhat interesting, after 3 weeks of the cup over 95% of the teams on the game are out of it and thus Tuesdays and Thursdays are pretty dull. Adding an element of competition to the game for those days would make it much more fun. Yes, you could do this on your own now with friendlies, but coordinating 16+ people to not add friendlies when the cup is going on, play the right opponents, etc. seems impossible. |

Even restructuring of the Striker Cup could be beneficial, whether it be by having "qualification rounds" for Div 6/7 teams to allow for more competitive early matches, or by separating the Cup into two competitions, one for Div 1-4 and one for Div 5-7. If those changes aren't feasible, perhaps the side cup(s) can be started after enough clubs from each division are eliminated from Striker Cup, and they are held on the same match days as Striker Cup - a Division 7/6/5/etc. Intertoto Cup, if you will. |

I discussed something like this through last season, turned down, but later get to know that we dont need it.to me if am not hijacking this thread, what i think we need is a medium that will make arranging cup easier,i mean teams out of striker cup can just click register, the system put the registered teams into groups and the match fixtures are fixed into the friendlies days automatically, thanks. | 20/07/2012 16:07 |
