What is the point of having a Division 7? Eliminating it could help alleviate the system bot problem. 11/07/2012 05:48

MVP of the game
I think it gives managers the chance to learn the game (particularly as I believe they resolved the 'non-come' from bot matches).
But I'd imagine at this stage there is so many bot teams that new managers could start in Div6 and pick things up from there.

I agree to an extent. I think it should still be there, because what happens if 10,000 people sign up for the game over the next 2 weeks (unlikely, but you never know) But as long as the game is in the state it is now it should only be used to hold bot teams.

I think I saw it discussed in another thread but what should happen is at the beginning of every season is that every human team should automatically replace system bots and all human teams should be pushed into divisions full of active managers. So if there are 1,000 active division 6 managers, then they should be placed in groups 1-50, and then the other divisions should be populated by new managers in order (so group 51 would be filled with the next 20 new managers, 52 with the next 20, and so on). This would obviously be run with an algorithm that places the best teams in the higher division, to keep things competitive.

There would obviously be the issue of teams signing up and then never logging in that become bots, but it at the very least keeps more active in the lower divisions and gives people more reason to stick around and play.

That makes sense as div 7 does give teams a chance to learn the game, but I think i would rather learn by losing to real people than by beating system bots. The only thing that I see wrong with having the first 50 groups filled with only active managers is that only a few real managers will receive promotion to div 5 while a lot of system bots will now be promoted into div 5 as well. Maybe the real managers should be sparsely placed in every div 6 group (leaving div 7 with only system bots in case massive player expansion occurred) so that each of them has a chance at promotion and then div 5 could start being rid of system bots. 11/07/2012 23:47

True, I didn't even think of the fact that you need over 2,000 teams to promote up to division 5. Not to mention that in my scenario it's going to pull even more teams up to replace the 5th division teams that invariably turned into bots. So in reality you're probably going to need 3,000 human managers, meaning there is a good chance you're going to be pulling a bunch of people who wouldn't be ready for division 5.

I like the idea of evenly distributing them through each group, that way they can learn the basics and still have some human managers around to compete with.
