To keep the forums clear of the offside debate and maybe help a few people a long the way, I have created this thread. Please put all your offside related questions in here. Just like any thread, the normal rules apply, so if you're planning to post something a long the lines of "F*** You admins, offside is crap", then go have sit down somewhere quiet first of all and just chill out first. I will be directing you here if you open a thread about offside so that hopefully someone can help you. I'll get the ball rolling with the two FAQ's that are a must read if you are having problems with offside. New formations. http://uk.strikermanager.com/foros/hilo.php?id=277588 Advanced formation FAQ. http://uk.strikermanager.com/foros/hilo.php?id=265474 |

And now some words by @CelloG @CelloG said: 1) stop whining and decide to try to beat it 2) watch games in division 1 3) experiment with formations and tactics, noticing how your players behave 4) ask for help from teams that seem to have successfully beat it 5) did I mention stop whining? There are many problems with this game. Offside trap is actually not the bug that makes it effective, it is strikers missing from 3 feet away in a 1-on-1, 3-on-1, or more, and strikers past the last defender passing to another striker in an offside position. Also, look at your strikers too. There are 4 key stats that affect your ability to kill an offside trap: speed, technique, dribbling, and experience. The higher these are, the less likely that a player will be caught by a high offside trap. Your players need to be faster than your opponent's fastest defenders, be able to dribble around them and have the experience not to go offside as often when waiting to receive a pass. OK, back to the sim. There are problems. We have a beta simulator that a few people tested with friendlies last season, and I can tell you it fixes passing to players in an offside position in a breakaway, improves finishing within the penalty box, but it adds a slew of new bugs, such as too many back passes in your own half, teleportation of the ball across the pitch, angry GK own goal, etc. Soon we will able to see a new sim with these and other problems fixed, but until then, you've got 2 choices: Deal with it or quit. Better yet, if you've been eliminated from the cup, play a friendly in beta mode and report bugs on the beta sim forum. Thank you for your attention. |

Hey man I need some help. I'm not whining, my central forward is always getting killed with offsides, i'm trying the advance formation so that i can bring my center forward down, but every time I click save it resets the formation back to its original setting. I followed the advance tactics tuitorial. also how do i get my defense to do the offside trap. Example, last game I had 15 offsides to 0. game before that it was 13-2. how do i set up my defence? I don't get it. | 25/04/2012 17:05 |

When you click save, it goes back to the starting positions but it is all saved. Pull the ball around the field and you should see the positions that you moved the players to. Just make sure that you're setting the player positions in every single box, there's 35 of them(It does take about an hour to do it correctly), first time will take longer. The centre box can't be changed otherwise it changes the default positions of the players. Be aware you need to do all the boxes, if for example you miss the 5 boxes at the back, near your goal, then every time the ball goes in those boxes your CF's will go running up the field and go offside. For offside trap the important thing to do is keep the defensive line level with the ball in every single box that's in your half(and keep the defender sitting on or near the halfway line when it's in your opponents half). Be aware that the offside trap is risky, despite what everyone says. If you play it against teams with fast attackers, then they will be going one on one with your keeper a lot. I used it for a while and have now dropped it completely for this very reason. The other thing to be aware of is the 3 lines on the tactics screen. This moves all of your defenders or mids or forwards, backwards and forwards relative to their positions in advanced formation. It's basically there to let you push forward or pack your own half without having to create a new formation for each. If you're still having problems after trying this then let me know. It took me a while to get my head around creating(and stopping) the offside tactic. Edited by @grantis45 25-04-2012 17:39 |
