I just got killed with a 2 -0 with a team that was good but we were better, except when it came time to the attack and of course defend those 2 goals that were great for them but awful for me. I need help! I have no idea how to get the trap done and how to defeat it. Because my forwards can't run all that way. Anyhow... HELP! |

Use advanced formation and for every square in your half, pull your strikers half way....when going up, keep them in the same line or behind the ball for every square... To trap someone you also need advanced formation to push your defenders half way for every square above the halfway line.... Remember offside is not called when the player is in his own half. Also be careful using it because the red/yellow/green lines in "tactics" have to be carefully positioned or you will found the players above/below where they are supposed to be (need to test it) |

Not quite sure if that's sarcasm or not, but yes advanced formation is the answer. Everyone starts the game with the same rather crappy formations. The game has this wonderful built in thing, where you can change it and do funky things like create an offside trap, anti-offside trap, have midfielders run into opponents box to attack, put all your players on your goal line for defense. You can create what you like. Now, when you play against someone who puts the time and effort in to create something that stops your formation from working, you need to be trying to outsmart them. It's a bit like real football where the best managers and coaches can do surprising things that break their opponent. This game used to be about just buying and selling players, nothing more, 99% of the time the best team won. You couldn't out think your opponent you could just out buy them. Don't get me wrong, the game was still quite fun, but another dimension was added so that your brain had to be used beyond just spending more GB's than your opponent and packing the midfield with 6 IM's. If they do make any changes to the offside in the new sim, then if you've got your CF sitting on the goal line of your opponent all game long then you will still end up with 40 offsides per game. It's not going to fix that, you'll still need to use advanced formation to create a great formation. It'll probably just clear up offsides from free kicks, corners and throw in's and make forwards a little more intelligent with their passing forwards. It's not going to do everything for you, otherwise what's the point of being able to edit your formation if it has no affect on gameplay. |
