I don't have a problem with an offside trap per say or people that play them. What I have problem with is how this game is set up.

1. How is that a forward with similar or faster speed gets caught by a defender with ease? Sometimes I feel the defender could dance around the forward and still beat him from the defensive line to the penalty area. Seriously.
2. Why are there not more red and yellow cards given in a clear brake/goal opportunity situation? This even more enhances the previous point as forwards have clear space between them and the goalie and the tackle gets a decision no different than a middle of the pack tackle.
3. Not enough intelligence from the players. One example is that there are not enough passes into empty space that would set up brake more easily. The other is when a midfielder runs with a ball towards an on side forward with a clear pass line and he waits and waits and waits until either the opposition defensive line moves or the forward himself moves into offside and then gets in that "great" pass.

See, this the kind of post we can work with. Constructive and intelligently written.

One thing I've noticed is that whenever a player makes that lunge move, he gains a crap-load of space on the player he is chasing, and can use it seemingly unlimited times. I'm pretty sure that whenever a real player makes such a lunge, he winds up on the ground. I believe they call it a tackle. I think that one little technique needs to be tweaked so that the player making the move winds up on the ground and has to then get his ass back up before he can continue the chase. Also, that move should not be used so much because of the chance of missing and getting completely blown away as he is regaining his feet.

This exact situation is also why the devs saw fit to slow down defenders when in the offensive half. Defenders were able to play massively offside traps and still get back in time to halt anything that broke through. This was again, a treatment of the symptom, not dealing with the real problem. I think U-Play really needs to go out of their way to find a real AI programmer to help sort this issue out.

The card balance has been played with a bit over the last few seasons, and is really more of a symptom of the underlying problem. I would much rather see them work on player interactions and get that system right before trying to tune the card rates. Yes, the number of cards coming out are a bit odd, but until the real problems are addressed, it's just window dressing on a shaky facade.

And here is the core of the real problem. The AI in this game really is pretty bad. However, once we have more friendly games being played, we can see what it is the devs are trying to do by using the beta sim for those games. Unless they've removed it already (STUPID move if they have), there should be buttons on your friendlies page to allow you to opt into the beta sim. Only one person has to opt in for the game to be played using it, which i highly recommend everyone do. The other bonus to using the beta sim is that you don't expend any stamina or gain any injuries from it.

Don't be so hard on formation guy.He has probably the strongest team in this group and is in third spot.Maybe get a good formation for your team first and try to stop conceding all those goals before you go handing out formations to all the group. If you give everyone your formation I guess roastedlemmon will only win by more.
Its always best to clean your own house first.
