1. I think the pool of surnames needs to be broadened a bit for several cultures. e.g. Nigeria produces waaaaay too many "Kaita"s, and Israel has a lot of "Hertzikowitz"es. If you need some help seeding some more names, I'll happily contribute a list of typical names for Israel and South Africa. 2. Sometimes first names and surnames get mixed in ways that you really would not expect. Like in Israel, you would expect to find both Hebrew and Arabic names. But it's very, very unlikely that you'd find names like Muhammad Cohen, Walid Golan, Shlomi Abbas, etc. 3. In line with point 2, the player picture should realistically depict someone from the culture whence the name was drawn. The USA may just be one big ol' melting pot, but most other countries aren't like that. Not many white boys from South Africa are called Makhatini. I'd say you should have a culture associated with a surname, not just a country. |

I agree with that, since I already have received the 4th member of the Supici-family from my Uruguay school. I've also noticed that in some countries several common names are horrribly misspelled. That also keeps annoying me. I could volunteer to give the German names' list a makeover. |

Perhaps also have some kind of weighting for how common a name is, e.g. I don't think it would be strange to have lots of Smiths coming from the UK, or USA, or Schroeders from Germany. But it is kinda weird to have so many Hertzikowitzes coming from Israel, when that's really not a very common name... | 11/03/2012 17:20 |
