Adding wing backs to the game would present a whole new tactic to the game, wing play! Right now, not many people play with attacking outside backs simply because RB's and LB's as well as LDF's and RDF's cannot pass, or dribble well.

In real life, Barcalona use wing backs such as Abidal, Dani Alves, and Marcelo. Bayern Munich use Lahm as their wing back. Striker manager does not have wing backs at the moment, so it is missing a piece of the modern game. Almost all defenders in Striker Manager have very low pass ratings as well as dribbling. In real life, Lahm and Abidal can dribble phenomenally and are good passers of the ball as seen by their crosses.

I think that if wing backs were added to this game, it would make it a lot more attacking oriented while also making defending more strategic (sending both WB's up and being left with 2 D...)

I know this is not real life. I am just saying that adding them would not hurt anybody. Just add 1 position to the school and BOOM. Wing backs. 05/03/2012 05:26

Lahm, Abidal, Marcelo, Dani Alves, Taiwo, Abate, Maicon, Bosingwa, Ashley Cole, Bale (although he now plays mid), Sagna, and Felipe all possess good overlapping ability, and attacking mindsets. These defenders are talented in all departments of soccer, yes, that includes attacking.

These are not the only players either, there are plenty of others. My examples are only of those who are good getting up the pitch, but there are also plenty of great ball winners that score off of corner kicks.

If you are not going to put Wing Backs in the game, then you should strongly consider having corner kick tactics and having defenders who can score off of corner kicks (Meaning they can actually header the ball...).

MVP of the game
I have to agree here, when I chose the 4-4-2 formation I had the intention in mind to use the RB and LB to overlap and cross as well as work with the mids LM and RM upfront. I do push them forward but as mentioned rarely do they actually receive a pass and help in attacking play. Let's just say the option is looking less effective than initially envisioned. A little better passing would be awesome honestly. We all know this is not real football, this game has shown that it cannot mimic it very well, simulation it is not.

However, they should strive to simulate modern football at some point especially the versatile nature of the game today. Surely any footballer worth a grain of salt no matter the position will be bale to pass a football better than a defender does in this game. Defenders heavily suffer in this game and making strikers "stupid" to compensate for that is just silly. The simulation is already lack lustre it doesn't need striker shooting balls that result in throw ins. Anyway, I'm way off topic now, RBs and LBs that play as Evra, Lahm, Marcelo, Abate, Cole Alves et al would certainly add a new dimension to beating the "almighty" offside trap and in general create one of the first versatile players within SM.

LB/RBs should be equipped with better Dribbling, nothing else. Any more additions would give them an unfair advantage over the other defenders. 05/03/2012 10:08

yes, LB/RBs should be able to cross or at least "early cross". Dunno why i even own them now, they are fast but they run for doing nothing...

Of course, this would introduce over 1 million new bugs so i doubt they'll ever do it.
