In light of the recent simulator update, I am thinking about moving to a formation with 2 DFM + 1 CDF instead of 1 DFM + 2 CDF. Do you guys think this is a good idea? The center will be guarded by the CDF but I've had bad experience with this positioning. |

I totally understand the desire to make this move. There are others who have done the same. In my experience sometimes it can be more beneficial to wait a while and see how things pan out. The recent updates haven't been so great and are currently being assessed and possibly updated themselves. You may find that your current formation will be more effective if the update gets...updated Personally, I would wait it out a little before you make any wholesale changes. If you can change it up in the meantime without having to restructure your squad then I would definitely support this move. Edited by @practicesquad 25-01-2012 09:05 |

Not completely, Man Marking can only be performed by defensive players and this is worth bearing in mind. | 25/01/2012 09:32 |

This is exactly why DFMs are superior even before the update, isn't it? DFMs don't hold positions and will chase down strikers easily. | 25/01/2012 09:36 |

Yeah but only if you need them to chase i.e. if you play a higher line and prefer zonal marking. Really it depends on how you play and what you want to achieve. |

I've decided to try it anyways with my promotion at stake. Will let you guys know how well/bad it turns out to be. By the way, for those who use offside traps, do you use a high man-to-man percentage as well? This weakens the offside trap a little (but still works on fast breaks) but seems to improve defense in general given the recent update. |

ever since they announced that they "improved man-marking" I switched from 65% zone to some high % of man-marking. I use higher man-marking with higher effort because players pulled out of position can run back faster. I switched to 2 DFMs last season because they are just so much faster for far less $$. I am not sure what they were thinking of with the last update, slowing down defenders is just silly, if not stupid. |
