Okay, today i would like to explore tips about defense. I had a game with a division leader today losing another match. However, I am happy with scoring 4 goals. Does anyone have tips for effective defense system especially high powering team with CFs in 70s. I would like to know more about its fundamentals. If this topic has been discussed before please let me know the link.

1. In Zones vs Man-to-man: Does it really matter? Or is one better than the other?
2. What does green bar exactly do? All I could figure out was defenders are starting to tackle below (or on) the green bar
3. Should I just ignore the defense tactics and focus on mastering offside trap?

I wish SM can put out a comprehensive manual with examples of how tactics and formation works. Any tips will be appreciated.

I find Man-to-Man is much more effective when you're playing with low effort. Zones requires a higher amount of effort because players break through easier and you often need the speed to track them down.

The green bar will tell your defenders how far up or down the field they should position themselves relative to where you have placed them in your advanced formation. I've found that attackers seem to be able to break through a high offside line much easier this season and I'm currently trying to develop a formation/tactic that will keep defenders close but still just behind the attackers. This way if they stray too far forward they'll be offside, but if they catch a break it won't be much to track them down.

I think one cannot work without the other. You need to find a balance between your tactic and your formation to achieve what you want out of your defense.

Hey guys, tomorrow I have an important game against a team who has a silver star 73 overall and striker Ivan Alonso. Should I need to use some extensive defensive movements with more defenders or my usual offside trap with 3 guys should work against him ? This is my first big match of the season and also my 1st choice RIM has been hostiled, so a bit nervous and all. Any suggestions will be welcome guys 12/01/2012 11:20

the speed of his players is not that great so your offside trap will probably work... but i am sure other more experienced guys will be posting soon 12/01/2012 11:47

He hasn't got wingers. So he'll be attacking thru middle. Apart from LM. So cut off the supply line. 12/01/2012 15:22
