What kind of games we are playing ? this is not football. just to take advantage of offside error, teams are keeping their half of field empty all the time. how is this allowed ? i think this advanced formation must be removed to bring back sanity in the game else this is also going to go the football manager way.

or just rename the Advanced Formation to "Insane Formations"

If you can't beat offside trap ,then don't get angry with it 07/01/2012 16:04

+1, although I still think there should be an advanced tactic that allows a formation change that is tied to a number of offsides - this way you can set your team up to counter a variety of strategies

A lot have been said about offsides and I think some adjustments should be made. Throwing the ball to your player behind your opponent's defense is still counted as offside. Also, once some players beat the trap, it shouldn't be offside no matter how often they pass to each other. 07/01/2012 16:15

thats how it should be. and those who just copy the formation and try to win games rather then strategies are the ones who will be angry with with this change

Actually, the simulator itself handles offsides pretty well now (in line with the FIFA rules). Only exception that I know of is if they still haven't fixed the offsides called in your own half. In answer to your comment, it's always going to be offsides if you pass to someone who is behind a defender, regardless of whether or not the passer is also behind the defenders.

FIFA rules? That's totally wrong:
1. I played a game where whenever I have a throw-in in my opponent's half, there's an offside call because his defenders are in my half. Throw-in should not be offside.
2. When two players bit the offside, you can't call offsides against them. You can even know that by watching soccer because it's common.

I think offside call in own half is the one that has been fixed, just that the kick is taken where the player touched the ball instead of the player's initial position.

I'm not arguing the point on the throw-in. That's probably a bug. However, even if two people beat the opponent's defense, a pass between them behind the defense is still offsides:

Did it say a player can be offside when he/she is behind the ball?

It cannot be offside so long as the other player is behind the ball. That's why a player who receives a corner kick can never be offside.
