I was wondering what others have done to combat an offsides trap. I just played a game in which the guy always has his guys near half field, I believe. At one point, I had the ball halfway to his goal on his side of the field, and he still had all but one defender at half field. Except for the ball carrier, they were all offsides. I realize that part of the fault lies on myself for my formation; I have my guys getting sent downfield to much and should have researched to realize that's how he played. But my players also never seemed to try to run onside. Wasn't something done to make players more "aware" of offsides? The main reason I'm writing this, though, is that I can't figure out how to structure a formation to combat this. The best way I can think of is to just always play my forward at the place of the ball and keep everyone else behind the ball. But this just pits my forward against his defense then... Anyway, does anybody have any ideas they would like to share? http://uk.strikermanager.com/partido.php?id=4166518&accion=simul (here's the game if anyone is interested. sorry for all the blather; i'm annoyed at the game) |

I pull my strikers as far back as below mid line when ball in my half. When in opponent half I keep them behind the ball.....Reduced offside by very much I'm still working on things...... |
