By Boris Moristikov Razgriz Straits--It appears the demise of Ace McZero and the Demons of Razgriz were greatly exaggerated. The Demons manager scheduled for an unexpected 4PM conference call that just recently finished. Here is the transcript-- Ace McZero-- Good evening ladies and gentlemen, I just put my brand nu shoes on, and I feel like dancing. http://youtu.be/pZv6I40W8Hw Reporter-- ...Oh really? You seem to be in a chipper mood...sir. It's good to hear from you again. McZero-- It's good to be heard again. I feel like the world's moved on--in the words of the great Roland Deschain--and it's about time I got caught up. Reporter-- The most important question, of course, is where were you? We'd heard that you were involved in an accident at an Air Race two months ago and weren't sure if you were a part of it or the reason behind it. You seemed to grow quiet after-- Ace McZero-- I don't kill people, I only steal their souls and their best players. Don't confuse me with the big man upstairs. Reporter-- Anubis? Ace McZero-- Yes. Reporter-- Are you okay? Where were you? Ace McZero-- I'm fine, the accident had no impact on my shyness. I've been in school. Reporter-- School, sir? For what? Managing 101? Ace McZero-- No, for Atmospheric Science, AKA Meteorology. I do have a life, friend. Unlike some people. (The reporter spontaneously combusts and inexplicably flies out the 19th floor window--it is apparent that Mr. McZero smiled) AM-- This call isn't over. Maristikov!, your turn, I trust you son. Me: *gulp* Good even-- AM: We've already swapped formal greetings, get on with it. Me: Yes sir...So it's safe to assume that schoo-- AM: What did I tell you about those who assume? Me: ...It makes an ASS out of U and ME, sir...it can be presumed that school caused you to be relatively inactive within Int'l 55. Your fellow pirates miss you and have speculated on what might have happened. You've done barely enough to keep your team competitive, but not necessarily improving. You've lost 3 of your most notorious players to hostiles, you've missed numerous league meetings opting to send your secretary--whom you've fired thrice this season, and the only time you were ever truly vocal this season was to stomp a mudhole in the leader of Shadow Strikers over the financial situation of your squad--which I believe is the last time you've said anything on the forums. What say ye? AM: You have balls, Boris. Natasha has been feeding you your favorite dishes again, hasn't she? Me: Sir... AM: Does she not make the greatest Homestyle Fried Chicken and herbed mashed potatoes ever? Me: Yes sir...she's actually added a mesquite flavor to the chicken, but about the question... AM: I'm hungry, have her send me some of her cuisine after this. As a matter of fact, my explanation shall be long--by all means, text her my request while I ramble. Got it? Me: Yes sir. AM: Good man. Indeed, I've been quiet these past couple months. I hinted last season that this would happen, apparently nobody listened. Or mayhaps I was talking to myself. Who knows? But this year was to be spent building up my stadium and merely hoping to promote to Div 2. It's a foregone conclusion I will never outright win Int'l 55--I'm in it for the camaraderie and challenge--but everybody should be vying for access to Division 1 regardless. I tell my squad to take it easy during the weekend skirmishes, but not so easy that we get dropped from the league. Roll with the punches this year while I build the stadium and our credit score, and we'll be at or near the top of Int'l 55 either next year or the year after when I can focus on personnel again. As far as I'm concerned, things are going according to plan. Granted, we've had our lumps on the head this season: the constant draws in league play, losing the Azn to his ego, Mr. Wilcox to some Division 4 team, Leopaldo Puentes at the beginning of the season which sparked that flame war with Soli in the first place--I've had my moments where I've contemplated selling the team, but I've always faced adversity in my life and this is nothing compared to that. I'm not a quitter. I don't know what happened to Dominatord, but it will not happen to me. Have you finished that text Boris? Me: ...Just sent it sir. AM: That took a while. Me: Damn T9. AM: Get the Iphone 4S, Siri is a godsend. Me: Noted, sir. It sounds like you've been more focused on backstage work and trust your team to handle the brunt work. They've done so with mixed results. AM: Yes, our Int'l 55 position is not the greatest, but it wasn't going to be anyway. The mission is to make Div 2, and that's what we're going to do. I've recently become more socially active and asked Rishu for advice on how to handle my forwards better because he mentioned recently that he'd discovered the perfect way to do so. See? I still read the forums, even if I don't post. I'll be sharing notes with Horath too, though I'd prefer he contacted me as I'm lazy. Reb has been keeping in contact throughout the season to make sure I'm okay. This is a damn good PL with top class managers. I'm proud to be a part of it, and I'm looking forward to being a large part of it again, just like old times. Me: What's been your reaction to the steady stream of "Super Leagues" to appear on the scene? AM: Remember Pokemon? How about Digimon? We are pokemon, they are digimon. We started this trend, albeit unintentionally, but social standards suggest that there would be spinoffs, ripoffs, and knockoffs. The more popular Int'l 55 got, the more of these clones there would be. The fact that there's so many that you can't put them all in one poll just goes to show how successful Int'l 55 truly is. We created our very own fad! Me: Are they good for the Striker world or detrimental? AM: They're good for the world of SM. I love them. They bring a dynamic to Striker in the same way stables bring one to professional wrestling. Truth be told, Int'l 55 is the Four Horsemen or NWO of online soccer managers. Me: Online soccer managers? AM: Whoops, I mean real life football management. Me: Uh huh... AM: But truth be told again, Striker needs Int'l 55 to remain on top of the PL world. These other PL's can vie for the top all they'd like, but we have a high standard to uphold. We have a pedestal to defend. We've done things that no other PL will ever be able to do, no matter how "strong" they are. The sooner these other PL's realize that, the sooner they can start fighting each other for the right to earn the "International 55 Private League of the Year" trophy and not fight the losing battle of trying to re-name the trophy after themselves. Int'l 55 is the Godfather of PL notoriety. We're not your competition, we're your mountain peak. Me: Well spoken, sir. So I believe it's safe to say you're not dead, but merely preparing for a surge in the next couple seasons? AM: Pretty much. I've given up on being an @ because I really don't have the time for that anymore. But I'm still one of the strongest non-@ managers in the game, that hasn't changed. If you don't believe me, I have some mangy friends I'd like to introduce to you. 41141, 14411. This is done, Boris, go bang your wife. Me: Yes sir... Edited by AceMcZer0 27-11-2011 02:35 |
