Substitute
I want to change formation during games by setting it on the advanced tactics. But my big concern is that I can't control who is going to be placed on a certain position. Does the game automaticly arrange the players to have the highest team skill level in a new formation? Cuz it's no use when he puts my forward in a deffensive position and visa versa. When I change formation in the line-up tab my line-up is all messed up and I have to re-arrange 6 or 7 positions. So i'm a bit tentative to change it during the game.
Can I also influence this with changing players? Like when I go from a 3-4-3 to a 4-3-3, I take a midfielder of and put an extra defender in.

There's an advanced formation tutorial in the FAQ's section. But the short answer is, copy your existing formation to a new one, change that new formation to the way you like it and the people should stay in the right positions when you make subs and change formation. 08/11/2011 15:56

I knew how advanced formation works, before I read the FAQ . I change it every game. I don't want them to stay the same when I change from a 3-4-3 to a 5-4-1 formation in game.. To change in-game I can chose tactic, formation, substitutes and the time when the changes should take effect. But I have no hand in putting the players on certain spots after the formation changed. Just wanted to know if anybody had a positive or negative experience with it. 08/11/2011 18:17

What I was trying to say i, if you change from your own custom formation to a 5-4-1, then all of the players will be in the wrong places. Copy your 3-4-3. I presume you're going to take off 2 winger and swap them for defenders. Pull back the LW into a defensive position, your RW into the other defensive position. Now do that for every box in the new advanced formation. That should keep the remaining players in the same positions they were in when the formation/substitutions happen.

I've had negative, where I just swap one basic formation for another(it pulls your players all over the place)
