here is my game today, my totally rested team vs a fatigued AFK manager. I had my solo CF pulled as far back as the Tactics line screen would let me pull him back.

64% Possession 36%
7/38 Shots on goal 1/3
32/135 Pass 10/102
0 Corners 1
7 Fouls 3
0 Penalties 0
14 Offsides 0
56 Recoveries 20
3 Goals 0

While I still won game it is maddening to see play after play ended due to offsides.

I have been watching a few games lately with complaints about offsides, and while I have not watched yours I have two observations:
1) Playing against a fatigued team can make you more prone to offside calls. Your players are running faster and literally run themselves right into offside calls.
2) Simply pulling your line back in tactics isn't enough to avoid them. If you are running into offsides, or a team playing an offside trap. You really have to address it with and Advanced formation.

I am curious, how do you play an offensive trap? straight line defense and then push them up on the tactics board? if thats true my reasonably fast rested CF should be kick butt as these fatigued defense guys cant keep pace with him.

i still dont understand advanced tactics. when i place my guys based on each ball position i have no idea if i am in posession of the ball or where the other teams players are. to use advanced tactics to try and overcome this offsides problem would i just keep my front line out of the first three rows , regardless of position ?

You have the basics on the trap. The trick is you need defenders who can get back pretty fast.

The advanced tactics for the most part apply whether you or your opponent have the ball, man-to-man defense will kick in if you use it and your opponent has the ball. So you have to try and make trade offs. I try to keep my CF no further forward than a couple clicks in front of the ball, and I haven't been having a hard time with offsides. Your CF probably won't run by too many folks though, they are generally a slow lot. LIM and RIM work really well for that though.
