Midfields seems to be getting more selfish. Check out my last friendly....(you won't have to watch everythng to know what i'm talking about) http://uk.strikermanager.com/partido.php?id=4082270 My mids are not passing the ball to forwards at all (they even pass back to defenders). I know that if I pull my mids higher or pull back my strikers they wouldn't do that but I put the "play" bar in tactics half way between short passing and long cross. When I usually do that players send long ball from time time Not sure if it's a bug but hope it really is..........I use this thread to say thanks to @, The offside rule is much better now |

Your opponent is playing full man-marking - so mids dont want to play a 50-50 ball as your forwards are being marked out of the game. They will then look for a more open player to pass to, often backwards. It is one of the major advantages of man-marking. |

Using this thread for another thing that is bugging me.........my keeper seems to not be training any more. My other keeper (the loaned one) is normally training. My keeper hasn't be training for 1-2 weeks or maybe more. http://www.webpagescreenshot.info/img/856610-1122011113156AM |

Quick question @GunnerNic: What are the disadvantages of man-marking? Advantages of zone defense? Thank you. | 03/11/2011 06:00 |

Yeah @gunnerNic.......his forecast has reached its peak (but Come on......... at 23?). KingOftheHil... disadvantage of too much man-marking is that your defenders may leave a big "hole" in your defence by marking someone. And it wouldn't really help you if your opponent has more players forward than you have defenders since the defenders wouldn't be able to mark them all (that would leave a "hole" like I said and even some unmarked players). Advantage of zone defence is that your players try to stay in their position and do not leave hole. One advice, try different tactics against different teams because a tactic that works on "team A" may not work as well against "team B" *@Gunner feel free to correct me if what I said is wrong* |

100% correct Just to add to it - MM is not very effective if you want to play the offside trap. Zonal works very well for this if you push your players up. Zonal can be highly risky tho - if the opposition has noted where you put your players he can put his attackers elsewhere. Somewhere in between can be frustrating as its kinda half half and your players dont really know what to do, but I think some managers are very happy with 50-50. So it largely depends on your team. I play quite a bit of man marking if the opposition has very quick attackers as playing for offside is highly risky. If its just a CF (slow) and mids I will use the zonal offside trap to good effect, especially as my quick defenders can easily get back to cover. |

Thanks, I had the same problem - it's quite frustrating when you're the attacking team. What can be done from an attacking point of view against a team that employs strict man-to-man marking? |

Hmmm, thats a good question. Anyone have a definitive answer? I just hope for thru balls into the gap. Also if I keep passing short my CF can normally get the ball at some point - he has exceptional dribbling skills and sometime gets thru on goal. |
