First-team player
Hi there,

This is mainly for @administrators. I am in a really week group in division 6, so there are only 2-3 decent teams in my league. The last couple games, when the opposing player (bad player on a bad team) gets the ball with their strikers, they dribble for a LONG time without doing anything and my (much better) defenders just run around them without actually stealing the ball.

In this game: http://uk.strikermanager.com/partido.php?id=2918507

At 90:30, their striker gets the ball and dribbles for two minutes straight, with my defenders just running in front of him. Then he lobs this shot and it goes in, so I get the draw. I'm not complaining about the outcome (even though it's ridiculous that my team tied that team, in my opinion) - I'm just curious if my defenders are somehow at a DISadvantage for being so much better than their strikers?? Against better teams in my private league, my defenders appear to play BETTER - how come they don't just steal the ball from bad players like they should (and usually do)....??

Honestly, I'm not terribly worried, but I do think it's a little strange that my team would tie a team that bad. My team is not that great either, but I have a team full of players over 40 average, and my opponent has none over 30!!! And I tied them...!?!?!?!!! What am I missing???

And to answer at least one question before you ask - no, I did not have any special tactics in play (like offside trap). I made a couple substitutions but my tactics were just the normal ones (i.e. balanced between zone and man defense and short passes vs. counter-attacks). Maybe I should be playing more man-to-man defense? Or more zone defense??

Please, if any @ can give me some clues about why the simulator gave me the result it did, even if it is my own fault, please tell me. I want to fix it so this doesn't happen again.

Here's a stat for you: I had scored 50 goals and given up 2 all season. My opponent had only scored a total of 3 goals and given up 14 goals all season. So they score one and only give up one to me to earn the tie. Unbelievable. I've never seen anything like this. How in the world does he score in the 92:30 minute!??!? Unbelievable.

Oh well. Guess I better go splurge and buy myself some kick-ass players.

I haven't watched the game so I can't make a direct judgement on what happened. But sometimes tactics lineup in in such away, and the bal bounces in such a way that one team has much more success than you think that they should. See if there is anything you can learn from it, chalk it up to not being your day and move on and get ready for your next match. 27/10/2011 00:42

Zonal marking can sometimes cause a problem with defenders not sure whether to tackle or get to their "zone" that you put them in - try some man-marking and see if it makes a difference.
I have the same problem the odd game against weaker teams but I like zonal for different reasons so I'm ok with it.

Having watched your game, I have to agree it does seem a bit extreme that the striker is not tackled at some point. I'll let the developers know. 27/10/2011 11:22

Thanks! It has happened in other spots and other games too, but the striker is never good enough to even shoot on target. It's just weird that it happens against weak teams but not the good ones - almost like the attacker is moving so slow that the defense doesn't know what to do because they are so bad and moving so slowly.

Thanks for passing it on!

The same issue has happened to me as well, but the player is usually not good enough to get the shot on target. 27/10/2011 19:18

Yes. Please do let them know.

I played a friendly game on: http://uk.strikermanager.com/partido.php?id=4013915 and it was a bit baffling the way my players were hammered.

Better players ran out of stamina including my GK (this was supposed to be solved); Players who have performed rather well in past games, and faster to boot, were outplayed and outmatched all throughout, plus if I'm not mistaken, I think I also have the better staff (spent a lot on my coach, too). 3 yellow cards and 1 red card? Come on now.

And I thought the OFFSIDE bug was solved. I can't understand why I kept getting unnecessarily called for offsides and the other team doesn't under the same circumstances. Is there a thing as BAD OFFICIATING in the simulated games?

Also, spent a lot of time on formations, covering the playing field for both offense and defense. I ran a modified 3-5-2 against a 4-4-2 set up to concentrate play @ middle zones. As it turns out, my players ran out of gas before those of my opponents. Haha. I guess maybe they partied all night and never slept a wink before their game. Good thing it was just a friendly match.
